Follow Instructions and Get Near-Spray Quality Finish
First, I had never painted a boat and was dubious about reports of near-spray quality results with any of the boat paints. My boat is old so I figured anything would be an improvement. I chose Total Boat mainly because it was easier through Amazon. I mixed two parts Yellow with one part Fighting Lady. (Can't add pigment. You have to mix Wet Edge paint instead).I was amazed at the smooth finish of the final paint job. I think that it is 85% of a spray job. If I had thought that it would turn out this well I would have been more careful with the primer coats and prep.Advice: Painting outdoors is challenging. Each coat takes several days to dry and then you have to fight rain, humidity and temperature. I finished it in the garage and it was a snap. For me, the primer was really thick, went on with a lot of orange peel and it dried slowly, and it was clumping during sanding because I didn't let it cure (all problems were user error). When the primer was cured it was easily sanded down and may have helped with smoothing the fiberglass imperfections. The primer prep is he key to a quality paint job. Take your time here. The paint went on well. The first coat had some orange peel because I put it on too thick and didn't have a quality paint brush. It was remediated when I sanded it down (again, wait for it to cure!). I applied the last coat uncomfortably thin with tip and roll, and it turned out marvelous! It took 1 gallon of primer and about 1/2 gallon of paint for an 18' boat.Use a 1/8" foam roller (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0168S0ETE?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1) for the areas you want to look perfect, and use a true badger hair brush (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000N9LE80?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1). It is worth the money for this task.

awesome paint
not sure why others are bad mouthing this product, much like the primer the paint went on great . i choose not to thin it out and it was perfect, i used 1 gallon of the light gray and mixed in a quart of black. the finish is outstanding. don't listen to the haters that this paint doesn't dry, it was dry to the touch in 4 hrs. i will be applying a 2nd coat tomorrow.

Follow direction for best result! Great product
Great product. Worked as it should. Followed directions and gave it the full 12 hrs to dry and it made all the difference

Looks good. Kinda thin
Overall I’m happy with the durability. This paint does have some weird properties that could be me. The self leveling sometimes leaves some small areas without paint. Generally it’s not a big deal, I used this on a fiberglass boat dash that had some sort of vinyl top layer on it, the vinyl had cracked in spots, if you put enough of this on it seems to seal it. It paints easy with a foam roller, I found spraying multiplied the weird effect I would see, maybe it just needed multiple coats with spraying. It’s pretty thin in my opinion with is a little tough to work with, dries to a nice shell of a finish. So far I like the results.

TotslBoat Wet Edge Topside paint -- an outstanding polyurethane finish to protect your toys.
My application -- entire make-over of an older glider/sailplane trailer that had been baking for years under the New Mexico sun.Trailer is 30-ft, fiberglass. What I like:Paint is the consistency of pancake syrup, on the thicker side but applies easily with brush and roller.Paint covers VERY well.It flows well, even using a brush or roller.Covers fiberglass and aluminum sheeting equally well (prep those surfaces appropriately).Paint fills small pinholes and cracks.UV tolerant, flexible to movement/flexing.Leaves a durable surface, hard to scratch or even sand for later coats.Per recent Colorado weather, sheds rain and hail like a duck.6/2018: Sprays on great, covers very well. I used Total Boat thinner/cleaner (Xylene based) and it mixed in well and thoroughly. Their recommended spray ratio (paint:thinner) is 5:1.Bonus: Jamestown Distributor also included several mixing cups w/graduation markers, stir sticks and disposable gloves.Cons: not a lot of color options, but happy with the choices.Bottom line: HIGHLY recommended for most anything that stays outdoors and requires an appropriate protective topcoat.ps "Blue-Glo".. has a hint, a whisper of aqua, but I could not discern this after painting my 30' glider trailer, it looks like White. Contrast color of Kingston Gray is awesome. Friends are amazed at the make-over!
