Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway, Talking Diesel 10 - Battery Operated

Based on all the other reviews, Diesel 10 was exactly what we hoped. He is well built and we love listening to his phrases ("Silly Steamies!". His voice comes across loud and clear with several different phrases. It is true that they could have done a more creative design with his claw. However, it moves back and forth which is good enough for my daughter. She loves playing with him and couldn't be happier. As for the mystery as to why young children love Diesel 10 so much... I haven't figured that one out yet!

Got this for my 3.5 year old. It is super fun and he loves it. I think it is funny and cute too. An excellent addition to your train collection.

I bought this train for my nephew as Diesel 10 is one of his favorite characters. He loves him, he likes that it talks and that it has the little red light when you push the button. Overall it's the same as all the other wooden Thomas and Friends toy trains so no surprises there. It fits the standard wooden train track set and has magnets on both the front and back.My nephew only had one complaint and that was that Diesel 10's claw on the top does not lift up or down in any way. It does slide forward a small amount but that's it. He was very upset at first (as many 1 and a half year olds would be) when Diesel 10's claw wouldn't "come out" but after some explanation he accepted poor Diesel 10's limitations and loves him anyway!

Brilliant train, love how the light lights up the whole cab behind the face, and not just a little light at the front like the others. Says things like "Silly steamies" and "puffing slowly today?" that my boys get a lot of play value out of.

Excellent toy, my daughter LOVES it. His voice is perfect, looks just like Diesel 10 and he fits our wooden track. The only complaint I'd have is the claw only moves forward and not up. Definitely worth the money!

I purchased this without reading the reviews, thinking Talking Wooden Diesel 10 would just be like the other trains in this line.It is not the case. First of all, when you press the button, the light goes on inside his front compartment and glows red/orange. Next, he really does sound like a cackling jerk in his phrases. I was surprised he was "evil". My three year old at first was scared, but we worked him into a full blown villain. Diesel 10 knocks over all the other trains, and Mr. Topham Hatt and Lady Hat, and also rams into the buildings and forest around the tracks, but Superman comes and lifts him up in the air and throws him far into outer space (The couch). It's good to have a villain sometimes.

Very good quality diesel 10. Been through a lot of rough play in dirt, said, etc. it has held up very well. Good details and one of my boys favorites.

I don't know why, but my 2yo son loves this engine (isn't he a bad guy?). He had been hounding me about it for weeks. When I finally gave in and ordered it, it couldn't come soon enough. He was so excited when it finally arrived but was disapointed it didn't have a better pincher (because isn't that why everyone loves Diesel 10 in the first place). The pincher slides forward but doesn't open at all to pinch anything. My son still loves that it though.

We didn't receive the taking version as described but did get a discount from amazon because of this, the actual train itself is well made and my son was very happy with it even thought it didn't talk!

An excellent and very sturdy toy that continues to be a favourite. It encourages imaginative play and adds an extra dimension to any wooden railway set.

My son loves it, but the sound could have been louder..it's very feeble...
