Wood DYE - Bolgers Water Based Wood Stain - Non Toxic, VOC Free Wood Stain - FRUITWOOD 100ml

The different parts of the wood grain soak up the dye unequally and cause smudging and dark areas, there is a way to prevent this and harder woods are less affected so if your not sure I would look up a bit more before you start staining. it would have be nice to include a note about this as I was unaware as I did not read the product description but you still need a bit more information to get the most out of it.With that said the end result wasn't too bad so I left it as it was and the colour was spot on. I think I will go back to varnish but if you prefer stained wood and know what you're doing, or don't mind doing a little research then I would recommend this dye.
