Dr Virgil A. Kellog narrates this account of the work of the 60th US Naval Construction Battalion, also known as the 60th Seabees. The specialist unit was set up to build and defend airstrips in the South-west Pacific, in an attempt to gain aerial supremacy over the Japanese. This video pays tribute to the dedication and sacrifice made by the members of a squad who managed to construct a fully operational landing strip on an island off the coast of New Guinea in the space of just 13 days.
