Good indoor/outdoor thermometer
So I've had this for almost a year now and am mostly happy with it. It's bigger than the last one I had, but now I like the bigger display since it's easier to read from a distance. Seems accurate, as it always reads milder temps than our weather station that is not sheltered (this one is on siding under our second story deck and is always shaded. The one thing I do not like, at all, is that flashing freeze warning light. That thing startled me out of a deep sleep one night and scared the poop out of me. I thought someone had broken into my room and was shining a flashlight in my eyes. Why, Oregon Scientific, why?? I honestly don't see any reason for this feature. I can see the temperature, and I know when it is approaching or below freezing. There is no need for a flashing light with the intensity of a laser beam to tell me what I can already see. On nights when the temperature would be going below freezing I had to try to remember to put the thing face down and cover it with a towel so it wouldn't wake me up. I am a bit of a procrastinator, but I finally went outside to the sensor and changed it to channel 2, since this feature is only active on channel one. Now that I don't have to worry about the blinding light, I have a much better relationship with this thermometer. That really is the only downside to an otherwise functional and useful device. If you put this in your bedroom, just start it out on channel 2 when you set it up. Trust me on this.

Works, but not well
I bought this item to replace an older model from the same manufacturer. I was particularly interested in the Bluetooth capability and the fact that the ADVERTISED model would utilize my present remote sensors. WRONG. I was sent an "updated" unit (model number ending in "X") that cannot link with my sensors. I contacted the seller (twice) and have not had any response. Range of sensors seems the same as my 10 year old unit, and the bluetooth is nice but range is limited to 1 or 2 rooms of my house. Display is easy to read, as is the display on the phone app, but the phone app is not very customizable. The largest window on the phone app main page is barometric pressure, which you cannot change. I don't care about barometric pressure (I would prefer humidity), and I especially don't believe the fact that the pressure has not altered whatsoever in the week the unit has been working. It sits at 30 inHG and never moves, which leads me to believe that it is not receiving pressure data or that function does not work. It is my studied opinion that Oregon Scientific quality has gone downhill. My ~10 year old unit would still be working, had the batteries not corroded in place. All in all, you get what you pay for and this unit at the ~$30 range is not worth anything more. I cannot recommend it and would send it back if it wasn't such a pain to re-package. Last comment - the included instructions are very brief. A little more time spent including a more comprehensive owner's manual would be appreciated by me at least.UPDATE: December 2022, after ~3+ months of use. I will reiterate that Bluetooth connectivity is not good. The only places it works within my house is within sight of the base unit, or with no more than one wall in between. The barometric reading is useless. I have 3 sensors in my house, garage and workshop. Barometric pressure has never deviated from 30.0. Never. That function... well, it doesn't function! I do not recommend this unit. I wish I could still buy my previous 10 year old version.

Received BAR218HGX instead of BAR218HG
As another reviewer mentioned, the BAR218HGX is the one that was shipping and not the BAR218HG. This is probably an ok substitute. I do have an older sensor that I was planning on adding to this, but it is not compatible with the HGX, only the HG. One thing I find annoying is the 'Ice Warning' light that blinks bright green when the temperature falls within a certain range. You have the option to disable it, but that only works for about 24 hours. The instructions say that the 'Ice Warning' only works on channel 1, so if you don't want it, switch to one of the other channels. The problem I am having with this is that I cannot seem to get it to pair with the other channels, probably since I have to skip pairing with channel 1. Hmm.... May have to put something over the stupid blinking light thing so it doesn't show.UPDATE: I was able to just have it pair with channel 2 finally. I had to reset the device to get it to work. So, now blinking is gone. Yay!

It took three days for the system to find the external monitor.
All I wanted was to have an internal and external temperature. I have two systems over the last few years, but his was the most difficult to set up.

So far so good
Great product especially with the iPhone app that allows you to see a week of history of temperature, humidity and pressure. It plots nice hourly or daily graphs. The only thing I'm afraid is that the user manual says it works only down to -20c which is not cold enough for us in Canada. So I'll know next winter if it works in the winter. So far so good.
