Total fail at first but redeemed by first class customer service
I purchased one unit Nexcon Solar Panel Charger 5000mAh from Amazon and recently received it. I charged it for more than 14 hours from a wall outlet. Even after 14 hours, the four blue LED lights will not turn off. I then connected my Samsung Note 3 to the Nexconn. My Samsung Note 3 had 13% battery remaining. The Nexcon charged my device up to 18% battery, then, the Nexcon went totally dead. Even the flashlight would not come on. I tested the Nexcon twice and both times it failed to hold charge and give charge. The solar charging function doesn't work either. Very defective product. I have many portable power banks but wanted one with solar charging capabilities to take with me to a trekking holiday at a remote place. Very disappointed. I have just filed a Returns Claim with Amazon and will be returning the product.Update to my initial review: I was contacted by Nexcon and offered a replacement charger at no cost to me. I accepted. In this regard, Nexcon's after sales service is exemplary. I've used the replacement charger to about 6 times so far, to charge my Samsung Note 3 and iphone. I tracked a few instances of charging performance but documented only one: with my Samsung Note 3 at 43% of its 3200mAH battery life, and the Nexcont fully charged up with 4 blue bars, the Nexcon charger took slightly more than three bars of its own power to charge the Samsung Note 3 to 100%, in about 2 hours. While charging, I used the phone for light whatsapping. To charge the Nexcon solar charger from 1 bar to full 4 bars using a wall outlet, it takes about 8 hours charging time. Trying to charge the Nexcon solar charger with sun power by leaving it beside a closed glass window over three days failed to bring it up from 3 bars power to 4. All in all I would rated the solar charger 3 stars for performance and five stars for customer service.

It does work, albeit slowly.
Update (as 08/22/2016):So I decided to test how long it takes for this battery to fully charge via solar charging. I fully drained the battery and left it outside to charge over a week and a half. It is now currently at 75%. This is roughly enough to charge my phone once. So, by its description, this battery does work. Just don't expect to get much out of it because this charges too slowly for every day use. This should be expected due to the small size of the panel. If you want to charge your devices exclusively via solar power, there are better alternatives. Otherwise, this does match their description of use for only emergencies.Original Review:I bought this solar battery during Prime Day for $15, and for that price it is okay as a standalone battery pack. As for it's solar charging capability, I left this outside in the sun for several days and found that it takes about 2 full days to achieve a 50% charge. This is pretty much equivalent to charging my phone once. In terms of practicality, this won't keep you fully charged if you're on the go, but its to be expected given the small size of the solar panel. There are better options out there if you're looking for a solar charger, but for the price this is okay.

Nexcon Solar charger
This was the first solar charger I purchased, for the money great buy...This did the job in charging not only my iPhone but also my kindle.Purchased during the summer, this was great for rode trips when every body wants to plug into the outlet charge their phones, tablets and game stations, no wires extending from the outlet. This is also a dual charger and works well, it did take a hour to charge my kindle, so I purchased the 10000mAh both great products.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00N2D7JCO/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_52

Not great with solar
Bought two of these (one blue, one black). As a simple battery pack: Works as advertised. Only 5000mAh, but it works. As a solar powered battery pack: The solar power on this is incredibly finicky. If it doesn't have "enough" charge it won't charge. Both of mine charge incredibly slowly on solar power. It takes anywhere from a day to a week to fully charge, no matter the starting charge. Incredibly prone to heat damage, I had one balloon up on my car in a day's time. The clip is kind of neat, but doesn't fit very well on the handle. It would be nice if there was another ring or something to put the carabiner on but oh well.Pros: Works fine as a tiny battery.Cons: Sunlight charging is finicky at best.

So far it has worked great.
I bought this as a Christmas present for my husband who has an old truck that cigarette lighter doesn't work. He is on the road a lot and I wanted him to be able to charge his cell phone. This works great to charge on road. However don't leave it sitting on the dash or direct sunlight for long periods of time as the battery will swell and pop the casing apart. When this happened to us, I left the battery sit out of the sunlight for a couple of days and was able to snap everything back together. And continues to work.I don't think we would use this as our primary cell phone charger but I'm very happy with it. So much so, I purchased a second one for me for the days I spend at the dog park.

This was great. Untill recently when its started having an issue with the plug in for the charger. I use it in the desert when riding our dirt bikes. I clip it to my camel back while riding and charge my phone while riding. Now it sends a charge while in the sun but it needs to actually be charged up to be used without the sun, and that does not happen by throwing it in the sun it need to be plugged in. And heres the issue, the plug hole is tweeked and the plug falls out so it is a nightmare wiggling and tapping the plug to get a charge. It was wonky when we first opened it but not enough to send it back, now after 6months I am ready for a new one. I will give this one another shot. Im thinking we just got a bad one.

Worthless.
It worked well once. Worked poorly the 2nd time and then never again. I changed the device I was charging so I didn't bother to ask for a replacement.

Works well on a wall outlet for battery storage but despite being on my bike for 8 hours in the sun and leaving it in the sun the rest of the day, these do not seem to recharge.

Defective, like everyone says.
1) Buy product2) Leave in a sunny window where it will get regular sunlight for 1-2 weeks (this is logical, right?)3) Product bricks itself.
