Great Guitar
I missed the $550 deal, but felt I got a good deal at $715. The guitar was delivered in great shape, none of the flaws that were described in another review. It did need to have basic setup done, the action was a little high and intonation was a bit off but again not bad . I was told by a friend that this is normal, less stress on the guitar during shipping. It was playable and I didn't take it in until I had played it for a while and needed new strings. The setup cost me $60 including the new strings. The Min ETune is a great feature. I did need to recalibrate it after getting it back from the guitar shop. The low E, A and D strings were tuning sharp. I had read in a post that this is normal when changing from the factory Gibson strings.[...]It would have been nice to have had a printed manual for the Min ETune, there is a link on the quick start sheet to get the Gibson version of the manual but it does not have the calibration info, this I found through the post I mentioned earlier. I did need to run through the calibration a few times for the Low E and A strings to come into tune.Full manual:[...]

Very disappointing
I had great expectations for this guitar. I have been playing for nearly 30 years, and I've been through a lot of guitars. One of the guitars I currently own is a Epihone Les Paul Studio (build in China but setup in US by Gibson techs) which is surprisingly good. I naturally expected this guitar to be significantly better quality due to choice woods and Gibson USA craftmanship. What a disaster! This guitar was basically shipped with no setup whatsoever. The intonation was all wrong, and E, A and D strings were buzzing across most frets. The fret ends were very sharp, it is highly likely that they were not dressed at all during manufacturing. It may be possible to fix some of these issues by taking the guitar to a luthier for professional setup, but that will cost at least another $150. And it may even require more extensive work on the frets. Rather disappointing for an instrument shipped by Gibson USA in the self-proclaimed year of Les Paul.Min Etune system is also a bit lacking in terms of precision. If I can have to say one good thing about this guitar, the Dirty Fingers pickups are quite nice.I had no choice but to send the instrument back. Thanks to Amazon.com for the excellent return policy.

Absolutely incredible for the price I paid!!!
Not sure how or why.....but Amazon had this for $550 at one point, and I jumped on it as an impulse buy and rationalizing it as an investment. I received the guitar exactly as described, took it to the local music store (who has been in business for over 20 years..) and it was their first time seeing a Min E Tune in action! They were amazed by the guitar before I said the price...after I said the price they confirmed to me that I got the deal of the New Year!!!

Beautiful guitar. Pickups absolutely scream - they have a tone that just sounds like fire. Still has grit when playing clean, so not the most versatile, but for hard rock it's perfect.Min-Etune is also really cool. Works almost as well as the demo videos on Gibson's site - the only "issue" is that one or two strings don't quite get tuned when strumming all 6, but that's fixed by strumming them individually.Comes playable out of the box, but could stand to have a professional setup. Also somewhat heavy compared to my Gibson LP Standard+. But this sound for this price can't be beat.

Great Guitar, Plays Well, MinE-Tune Finally Works!
Crazy sustain, great feel. Ugly knobs and truss cover, wish the finish was gloss like they said, but its really satin. The Min-e-tune is like the new version of the "robot" tuners. The only part i didn't like was lack of instructions. Once I read how to use it, man, they finally nailed it. Great system! It doesn't feel very 70's though, but I didn't really care if it was "70s" or not, to be honest.
