OGIO ALPHA Convoy 514 Golf Stand Bag

Bottom line up front: The MSRP for this bag is ridiculous. I bought it when it went on sale for under $200 and it's not as well thought out or constructed as my Ping cart bag which cost less. It does, however, have an outstanding set of legs and extension lever, combined with a molded handle in the 14-way top that makes setting it down into set-up position extremely easy. The carry strap is on the handle-side of the bag and has four connection points plus a shortened pocket on the "left" side of the bag and a padded area...which would be genius if it were a both-shoulder-harness style carrying system. Unfortunately, it's only a single strap, which - while extremely thick and comfortable - is only useful if you're willing to knock off your hat and sunglasses while throwing it over your head and onto your left shoulder.The zippers seem well constructed. The magnetic latching system is brilliant and I love the quick-release on the towel strap. The magnetic carry-handle strap has never failed, even with every slot in the dividers filled I very much miss the big magnetic-closure pocket from my Ping bag and don't know why this doesn't have one at this price point. There is no strap at the bottom of the bag to help put it in your trunk, but there's a gap in the fabric of the frontmost pocket that seems purpose built for someone grabbing the 14-way plastic handle at the top and the pocket fabric at the bottom to load it into a car. I absolutely love that there are two velcro loop pads, one on either side of the handle, to stick gloves/velcro accessories to. The pen pockets woven into the velcro loop pads are also great for sharpies or sunglass stems.The bag looks great and I have yet to encounter any handle-snag pulling clubs in and out. It is, however, far less multi-functional than I was hoping for. Someday, a bag manufacturer will put a set of legs and an extension lever on a genuine cart bag. Until then, I'll be using this bag for the range and will keep all of my on-course accessories in my Ping Pioneer so that I can just switch clubs out when it's time to go play.

Very happy with the new bag. Seems very well made, a ton of pockets, and not heavy. Legs are feel very solid when the extend out. Ball pocket is huge (have a dozen in the picture). Really great bag!

Closer to 5 stars than 4...I'd give it a 4.6 if I could.The magnetic towel clip is genius. The versatility of having a stand bag, but ample large pockets like a cart bag is great. I used to like walking and carrying my bag in my 20's...now I prefer to ride or use a push cart if walking so a bigger bag was in order compared to a smaller and lightweight carry bag. The small valuables pocket on the upper left of the bag is somewhat useless though...maybe you can fit a passport sized object in there? A phone or wallet would fit, but be difficult to get in and out. The insulated pockets are a nice addition if you plan to use them, but frankly I just use them as standard pockets. The modular pack is sort of cool, but rather than a full clam shell opening I would have preferred a zipper that just goes 50% around. I put my wallet, phone, and keys in there, and I feel that every time I unzipper it to get everything out that the whole thing might flop open and cause me to drop my valuables.The cart strap sleeves are a nice addition to keep the bag secure on the cart, but if you're using a walking push cart, there is no loop on the bottom of the bag to weave the lower strap through. It works ok on my cliq gear cart since the bungees are thin and can just wrap around the bottom molding of the bag which is only about 1.5 inches high, but if you have a thicker lower strap it may slip off the bottom.I really like the top handles to grip the bag as you're moving the bag around without the shoulder strap. Such as putting it in and out of the car, in a closet, etc. Never realized how great they are until you have them.Overall the quality is very good. Very nice details...especially the velcro areas where you can slap your gloves on and the little sleeves where you can stick a sharpie or a small club brush. If you don't need a stand option, I'd definitely go with the full cart version and the additional pockets.

Very nice bag. A perfect stand/cart bag- not a carry bag. I wanted a bag to use on a cart with legs so that during the rainy season, I can carry my bag from the cart to my ball and stand the bag up instead of laying/falling on the fairway when carts are restricted from the course. I'm used to Sun Mountain bags, so this is a little different. Very good quality with plenty of storage. Pockets are different than what I'm used to, but I'll adjust. 14-way club dividers are full length and large enough for jumbo grips to slide in and out. A lot to like about this bag. My only issue was the cart strap pass thru. The bag's a little shorter than my old bag and the pass thru doesn't quite align with the cart strap. When used it actually raised the bag a little off the cart well bottom almost suspending the bag in the air. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the carts at my course, or an issue with the bag height. I don't have to use the pass thru, but it would be nice to be able to use it. For those using a push/pull cart, stand bags don't work well on push carts by nature. This one is no exception because the bag will twist. But you can purchase a kit from clicgear that will help with this problem. All-in-all a very good bag.

This bag is awesome for the person who sometimes rides in a cart, and sometimes pushes a cart. The fact that it has legs for the range make it nice and keeps it from falling over. The cooler bag can fit at least 6 cans of beer and ice to keep them cold. The magnetic towel holder and the quick disconnect/connect buckles on the handle are amazing.I love OGIO products, they have not let me down with this one.
