No improvement for my Kenwood Stereo
I can't really give this mic a bad review since I didn't use it for one of the listed compatible units, but I wanted to alert any other Kenwood DDX-_18 series owners looking for a better mic to pass on this one. I have a Kenwood DDX-418 car receiver with Bluetooth that came supplied with a wired mic that makes my voice sounds thin, "reedy," and distant. I purchased the Pioneer CD-VM1 hoping it might provide better sound, but unfortunately, the sound is only marginally better, if at all. I tested it by leaving messages on my home answering machine, comparing it with both the Kenwood mic and my cell phone's mic. I tried it out at different distances from my mouth and at both the visor and steering wheel positions, but it still had that same thin, "reedy" sound, but maybe slightly louder than the Kenwood - not enough to make it worth the purchase. FYI, it has a 2.5 mm plug on it, so it required an adapter ($3 at my local Radio Shack) to plug into the 3.5 mm jack on my receiver. Also, though I can't say for sure, the Sony XAMC10 mic appears to be identical to this Pioneer, but with a 3.5 mm plug istead of 2.5 mm, a slighly different mounting bracket, and a higher price tag. I'm planning on trying out the Clarion RCB199 and/or the Olympus ME-52W mics as well, so if you're in the same boat I'm in, check out those products to see if I've posted anything on them.

Great Replacement
Well originally i bought the Pioneer Avic-D3 and Bluetooth BTB200 (i believe is model number). Anyways they worked great together. I never mounted the bluetooth microphone and due to a mishap the cord got ripped in half.Pioneer wanted $50 for just the microphone when i paid $70 for both the unit and microphone and i found the microphone on amazon for half the price.Does just like the original does but half the cost direct from pioneer.I would recommend looking into a hands free bluetooth setup if you do not already have one. I love mine and this mic works great for it.

Gets the Job Done
Great price, but it's not any better than other car microphones on the market. Pioneer makes good products, but I'd buy a mic from another company if I could save a few dollars for the same functionality. The clip is handy for visor attachment and the cord is thin enough to push into gaps between panels.

Works great
Bought for pioneer avh-x4800bs. Routed the cable up to the sun visor. Came out looking good and the call quality is very good. Some people were saying that it was not a pioneer product, this was not the case for me. It came in a factory Pioneer box, very pleased with the product.

Great mic
I have these mics in both of my cars and I am very happy with them.Sound quality will be great as long as you place the mic in the appropriate location. I have mine installed on the back end of the driver's visor and this provides for great sound. This location requires additional wiring work, because you need to take the pillar out to route the cable.

This is NOT a Pioneer CD-VM1 microphone!
The photo in the Amazon ad distinctly shows a different item than what I received. Also, the authentic Pioneer CD-VM1 has a 13-ft (4m) cable. The cable on this microphone is only 3m. It appears to be similar to ones that may ship with a Pioneer radio, but I cannot even be certain of that. Very disappointed and would like to see this retailer banned from Amazon for misleading perspective purchasers.

Works like it should!
After trying a cheaper, generic version, I'd say this was money well spent. Excellent noise reduction, clear sound. With the other microphone, everybody knew I was driving in the car, but not anymore. If you need a 2.5mm microphone, this is the one to buy.

The Bury, statt Pioneer
TOP!

No upgrade from stock mic. Sound is muffled and there is very little noise cancelling capabilities
