Spiewak Women's Waxed Snorkel Parka with Fur Trim

UPDATE: Sadly, I had to return this coat. The interior filing coming out was too much to take (white filling all over coat). Spiewak couldn't help me, but Amazon customer service is amazing so I had no problems returning it. I purchased the Spiewak Aviation Parka instead and love it. Similar design as the Snorkel parka but warmer.----------UPDATE: Still love the look, fit and construction of the coat. I also find it very warm so far (wore the jacket in 30 degree weather with only a thin cotton sweatshirt underneath and was plenty warm) but taking off one star due to issues with the interior filling. I have worn the coat a handful of times and the fiber fill on the inside is coming out through the exterior of the coat. A bit disappointing. I have contacted Spiewak to see if there is anything they can do since I don't really like having white fuzz all over my jacket. Will update again if I get a response.-------------I just received this parka and love the way it looks on. Like other reviewers said, it is very flattering and slimming and has great pockets and detail work. I have an older Spiewak coat in a different style in a size M (their coats last for years). I ordered this one in a M as well, but probably could have gotten away with a small (I'm 5'5" 126 lbs and a slightly athletic build, not curvy, for reference) since it is pretty roomy on me. It also hits a little lower than in the picture on me, just right above the knee. So I'm not sure why the other reviewers said that the coat runs small. I will probably keep the medium though so I can wear bulky sweaters underneath. I was also oncerned about how warm it would be since it doesn't have down in it so I emailed Spiewak customer service and received the response below which reassured me (the Aviation parka that they refer to is down-insulated). The only thing that is a little strange is that the hood seems too large, as another reviewer stated. I'm wondering if taking the fur off will help with that. But, for me it wasn't a deal breaker because the coat seems very well-made and stylish at the same time. This jacket has been thoroughly tested. With my dog, I was locked out of my apartment building. We stood in the outside vestibule for seven hours in single digit weather and we survived until my super went back on duty to let us in. The beauty of this coat is that it is not super puffy and the A-line cut helps create a slim silhouette. The outer shell material is thick enough to block the wind without being too stiff. The collar flap also zips up all the way up the neck for additional wind protection. The sleeves also have thumb holes so that cuffs don't ride up. You can see the excellent workmanship in things like the stitching and zipper mechanism. I love the roomy hood too.

I always check the size chart before ordering a big ticket item. I really liked the look of this jacket and according to the size chart I should easily fit in an XL.I received the coat today and couldn't even close it over my chest.Why say a product will fit a chest size if it doesn't? It will only mean return items since at this price point I can't afford to just forget it.Love the coat and wish it came in the size I need. I'm giving the coat 3 stars because it looks like a quality product.

This jacket is really well made. I live in New England and it keeps me warm on cold days. There is a nice lining, but it is not inside the sleeves. The fur on the hood is really nice and removes. It is somewhat fitted, so it is difficult to fit a winter sweater underneath...might want to order a size up. I am 5'8" and the length is great. Worth the price...will have for many years.

Love the jacket, but found that after just 2 or so months of wear, the fill started to come out through the fabric, especially on the arms :(For the price I paid, I would think it would be higher quality/last longer!

i have a spiewak MEDIUM sized parka at home from a few years ago and this new LARGE fits exactly the same. i'm really sad that Spiewaks woman's models are shrinking...

I read the previous reviews for this product which said the sizing was small. I am size 6 and 6' tall so ordered the large thinking I could layer underneath it. I could have probably ordered the M though. This is a great jacket, perfect for my needs. The length is good for me. I am yet to try it in the rain though. My only criticism is the hood is ridiculously enormous, I have tightened the flap-thing as far as it will go and now it is ok,still big, but ok. My fave feature of this parka is that the pockets are lined in fleece....so cozy on cold mornings when I am watching sport. I tossed up between getting this jacket in khaki or black but ended up going with black. I am glad, it is classic. But if I could have seen the khaki in person I may have ordered that.

Great quality and style. Nice and toasty warm in 30 degree weather.
