No Complaints Whatsoever
I ordered two of these from Amazon for my office as it turned out we were not insured when using portable gas heaters! As we carry a substantial value of stock I simply had to come up with something different.I was I have to say dubious about electric heaters because of the cost to run but they were both delivered in a few days using super saver delivery and I was shocked how small they were. I thought I'd start by only opening one and switching it on; couldn't have been more surprised as these are small and mighty; they get very hot and throw out the heat - Those that have complained on here I can only say you must have got a faulty radiator as mine gives plenty of heat; I used the thermostat and it works perfectly allowing the room to reach a sensible temperature then cooling down only to heat up again when the temperature drops.Would love to have a version with a seven day timer, but I knew they didn't have a timer so I can't complain. It turns out that I am unlikely to need the second one in my office so I shall use it elsewhere - my office is around 9ft by 16ft and one is fine. Should prove very economical and takes up a lot less space than the portable gas heater. They're quite cute. All in all I have to say that I highly recommend these radiators - They're a great buy and a quality product - They also have a manufacturers five year warranty so they actually back their quality products.

Very worthwhile small heater, economical. With other source- excellent, superior alternative to halogen heaters.
For such a small heater, using 500 watts of electricity, it does well. It is a good heater.Rather than using the central heating, slow to come on and with high oil prices, I'd preferred electric heating and wanted to see if I could find economical electric heating. The halogen heaters which come in 800w or 1200w - 2 or 3 bars - were something I was trying. I'd decided the limit, electricity unit wise, could be 800w, and 800w of halogen bars heat could heat a person, even two people reasonably well if it is close to them, on all of the time. But it's only heating that one, tiny position in a room (by the sofa or chair), and even if you move up the sofa, with no background heat source, nearly all your heat has gone. Halogen heaters partly give out infra-red heat, which means in that part, they heat things - they heat you rather than the air, or the room.So I decided I didn't want to pay for 800w of heating - which was nice heating while sitting down - but heating where the room nearly wasn't being heated at all. I thought the answer might be in a couple of 500w Bambinos, or just one along with another low wattage heaterWith freezing winters like this one, one would expect the least to rely on for even part of a medium size room would be a 1.5 kw heater. But this winter I've been using this Bambino together with a very good Glen 500w skirting heater (I didn't realise how good that particulate skirting heater was until I tried swapping it with another radiator I have of higher wattage). With both heaters a medium size room (bigger than average medium sized townhouse room) is heated reasonably in colder times and nicely this winter when it's not so freezing outside. The great thing about the Bambino is that it has vents which let out some nice, hot air, as if it actually were a air heating skirting heater or a storage heater, as well as being a small radiator. The 500w Bambino's size means it is low enough to make pretty good effect from this and the radiator heat. When it comes to being very economical (rather than hitting out reliable but expensive electrical heat) in cold winters, low wattage heaters that release hot air at standing waist level or above really aren't much good. All the heat made is really needed when it's cold, and it mostly goes high up and disappears quick enough if it's not being continuously released from quite low down. The 500w Bambino I've used, also, I turn down to around 3/4 power as it stays hot quite nicely, so I guess it's using about 375w per hour. With my 500w skirting heater, that's not far from the 800w of 2 halogen bars, and the whole room is heated - better for warmth. So I'm really pleased with my experiment over the 2 x 500w heaters, and I suppose I've found the best way to heat that size room economically with electricity. (Note that the Bambino ought to be close to where you are sitting, also.) If I need a burst of heat at any time - I'd turn on a 1800w fan heater for around 3 minutes every half hour or hour, aimed at me (or aimed at the Bambino - that works well). And I have a nicely heated room (not a small room) with a wattage expenditure of around 1kw per hour. (The addition of around 160w per hour from, on average, 5 mins of the fan heater shows how vigilant you have to be to remain economical with appliances with high wattage use. Of course, every extra minute in a 8.5kw electric shower can render these considerations small fry - but forget that, it's a different world! The luxuries of hot showers that aren't short shouldn't be overlooked in British winters.)* I have ordered another 500w Bambino, and I think 2 together at around 3/4 thermostat position would make a good heating plan for a lot of medium townhouse sized rooms in winter. I estimate that 2 x 500w Bambinos with the Glen 500w skirting heater I have would make the heating nice and cosy, for close to 1200w. 3 economical, reliably warm, low cost heaters placed around a room is a good plan, if you want pretty cosy warm.*** NOTE - the wattage stuff is all guess work, I'm sorry to say. I haven't been able to use a plug-in wattage reckoner device, so I guess I don't really know how much watts the Bambino needs over an hour - either on full power or on 3/4 thermostat. I'm realising, I suppose, it could be significantly less than 500w - perhaps that's the maximum wattage for loading times only. So the Bambino could be more economical still. (I do know that halogen bars DO use the full wattage value all the time they are on - each 400w bar really does require an input of around 400w.)So, sorry I can't help so much there or be clearer in that regard.

Warms another room
Since the temperatures dropped this autumn I've been getting interminable earache from the wife and the mother that I needed to do something about the heating in the kitchen. For some reason, they can't sit in the same room to watch rubbish on television all night so I have to put my hand in my pocket again to heat more of the house. I thought that Sky+ was going to solve the problem, but it would appear that the wife needs to watch CSI, then Merlin and then Eastenders whilst the mother needs to watch Coronation Street, followed by CSI and then Merlin so it doesn't work out. They’ve both got jumpers and I've bought god knows how many blankets and throws but the nagging persisted. The only solution I'd found up to now was to go out to the shed and split logs for the fire in the lounge; at least that kept the wife happy, but when she realised she had nothing to moan about she jumped on the mother's bandwagon. The wife used to have the aga on non-stop, but I've told her it's broken. Since we switched it off I've already saved enough money in oil bills to get a water source heat pump; but that’s not getting installed until I've built the extension. Not having the aga meant the kitchen is cold on a frosty morning or in the evening, so to save myself further grief I bought one of these little beauties (I've also bought the 500 Watt model for the bathroom). It arrived well packaged and, whilst I was away, the wife was able to unpack it and turn it on at full blast, following the instructions. She wasn't able to get rid of the packaging though or turn the thermostat down, but I have since achieved both with ease. They are reasonably attractive (no worse than a radiator in my view) and well constructed. With a 5 year guarantee you can't go wrong! It heats the room of about 5m x 4m within 2 hours and keeps it toasty all day.I've bought a timer to control when the radiator comes on; I didn't want it heating the kitchen all night but I needed it be on in plenty of time to heat the room up before breakfast. £5 for a timer is preferable to me getting up at 4am every day and will probably pay for itself over the course of a winter when I am away.

Parfait.
