Annoying; Built to discard
I regret buying this dryer.Having a hamper door with a quality look to it is an initial attraction to this dryer; few dryers have it. It is a more convenient way to load and retrieve clothing items. The smoked glass of the hamper door looks quality from a distance but close-up it's only light duty plexigass, not built to last a long time. This dryer does a below-average job of drying a standard load of clothes. There are damp spots almost no matter which of the several load settings you use. Whatever the temperature sensor is doing, it is not doing very well. The chime sound is annoying- it goes off after EVERY click stop on the dial setting- which often is 5 or 6 stops to get what you want. The dial feels cheap and ready to break. It is not high or even medium quality but gets heavy use.The adjustments on the load settings are juvenile- you fuss around to adjust a default time 5 minutes.... big deal. It stillis unlikely to get a full load of clothes thoroughly dry. A medium large load takes 1.5 hours+ to dry- long compared to the competition. This dryer just does not have the right firepower for standard use.The "Rapid Dry" setting is a 15 minute default- a poorly named if not misleading feature not useful for anything except a quick fluff of one or two items. It's hard to tell how long this dryer will last, but with the electronic components designed for overuse and designed to break, my guess is this will last 7-8 years before the junk yard. Not long enough for the money.MDE20MNAYW Maytag dryer, the old-fashioned kind, has the standard side-swing door; and it has an annoying finish buzzer (which can be disconnected), but it drys well, doesn't have superfluous controls and looks built to last. No "bells and whistles" but it does a good job drying clothes.

Too many button presses; pulls threads from clothes
Requires too many steps (button presses) versus our 30-year old dryer, and it's stubborn about which settings are allowed in which cycle (can't adjust temperature or dryness or add time in some cycles for example). Not user friendly. Pulls threads from clothes that get stuck in the pinch point under the plastic lint filter. Inside light is nice but it shuts off too soon (while I'm still removing & folding items). Sloped top is annoying as it just causes laundry to fall off onto the floor. Like the hamper door style as it doesn't require as much space as a swinging door, and provides a place to stack towels. Glass door isn't necessary and can't see inside well due to the tint. Time-remaining indicator is uselessly incorrect until drying is about half completed. Leaves clothes more wrinkled than our old dryer, and some items intermittently get stuck in a position where they're wadded up the whole cycle. Sheet metal seems more flimsy than our old dryer as well.
