Johnny Mathis Gold: A 50th Ann [DVD]

Johnny Mathis was always very good and I did half expect this to be a sad show due to his age, but no such thing it is a stunning show with his voice just as good as ever. Yes you can tell he is older and it even looks like he might have had some surgery, but who cares, its the voice that is most impressive. The orchestrations are superb and the entire show works well for any Mathis fans. Pity they decided to separate it and put some on as 'extras' as they would have looked better being included in the main show. Perhaps it was cut down for TV. Whatever, its a great DVD of a great performer who has consistently produced quality work throughout his life, and this is no different. Thank you.

This is a wonderful dvd, showcasing a brilliant, unique vocalist. Altogether you get 35 songs, with 12 of them being on the bonus features. Why they didn't just lump them all together in the main part of the concert I don't know, as they are obviously from the same show. However, this is a very minor niggle.This was recorded in 2006. Johnny's voice, though not as strong now, remains beautiful. The 5.1 surround sound is superb and the picture quality is excellent. Overall, a beautifully produced dvd and a fitting tribute to one of the great singers.

This was bought to cover for a disastrous time I had in booking to see him at the NEC and the travel firm Newmarket failing to get there until 45 mins after the show started, They failed to know about a long hold-up on the M42 ( sat-nav left in the hotel not their fault, of course) Bought another DVD in haste which turned out to be American version.This was a welcome relief from the saga, and it is fabulous - well worth the investment for any "Johnny" enthusiasts

Johnny Mathis has had a long and successful career. With his wonderful voice and ability to sing a wide range of songs to perfection it is well deserved. This DVD is a great example of his longevity and ability after 50 years of performing. I just hope it can continue for some time yet.

first stereo LP I bought was "Warm", loved Johnny Mathis ever since, not sure how he would sound as I think he was around 70 years old when this was recorded, I was surprised when I played it, His voice is almost as good as it was 50 years ago, a great selection of all his best recordings, played through my surround sound amp., the sound is excellent, just love it. Would recommend this to any Mahis fans.

After seeing Johnny in concert I was anxious to purchase this DVD as I missed the shop at the O2. I was delighted to find it on the Amazon site and at a much cheaper price than I would have had to pay for it elsewhere. Vintage Johnny Mathis and the extra glimpses of his home, photos and friends was great.

Johnny Mathis ist aus dem Amerikanischen Showgeschäft nicht wegzudenken. Seine tolle Stimme und die Ausschnitte aus diversen Konzerten sind einfach ein Genuss. Besonders schön fand ich den Klassiker " MARIA " aus der West Side Story. Absolute Kaufempfehlung !

2006年10月27日のAtlantic Cityのトロピカーナ・ホテルでのコンサートの模様を中心に編集された作品。オールリージョンなので日本のプレイヤーでも鑑賞できる。コンサートの映像のほか"Andy Williams show"の映像やTV番組からの映像などもとりまぜた構成で2006年の映像では容姿の衰えは隠せないが、声量や歌唱力は全盛期と変わらず、シニア層の目立つ観客を楽しませている。追加映像にHenry Mancini medleyなどもありヴォーカル・ファンにはお勧めできる。1956年にデビューして50年経過時点での人気の高さにも驚かされる。
