Best Security Cam for the Money
The system works well and does what it says. Set-up was plug and play easy. It does have some limitations though. The camera is infra-red sensitive, like most digital cameras, and comes with IR LEDs built in. They are only for short range, though, (15-20') and can't be turned off. This means that if you want the camera to view outside, then you will have to mount it outside rather than looking through a window. The IR LEDs will just glare on the glass at night. The microphone mounted in the camera is -very- sensitive. Almost too sensitive. This is not adjustable. Other than these minor faults the camera works well. It comes with hardware for mounting outside or on a wall. It is stable enough to sit on a table or shelf. The camera will run on the included power adapter or on AA batteries. The portable monitor is very neat. It has a sharp picture, good features, is easy to operate and carry around. It will run on it's internal battery for up to four hours of continuous use when off it's charging cradle. It can be charged off it's cradle if you have the right adapter, which is a pretty common one. Range has not been an issue with me despite wireless routers and cell phones in close proximity to the monitor. Picture clarity and reception are excellent. Add an HD Micro SD card up to 32Gb (not included) and it will record for days before overwriting older recordings. The manual that comes with the system is complete and concise. A cdrom of DVR software and USB drivers is included. Software key was printed on the cd.The only downside is the included DVR Software doesn't really do anything the monitor itself doesn't do. The software doesn't let you view recordings on the monitor's SD card for instance, only the recordings the software has made. So there really isn't much use for it unless you just want your cameras on a bigger screen. When plugged into your computer's USB port, the monitor becomes simply a pass-through for the camera. Recordings made on the monitor have to be viewed on the monitor, or, the MicroSD card can be removed and plugged in to your computer if you have an adapter.Overall I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it for budget conscious buyers.

Love it for the price. Great features, great video. Great Great Great!!!!
Took a chance with this.Wanted a simple door monitor, since I am in bed 90% of the day (six major back surgeries, and counting), and wanted to see who was at the door. The major plus is the alarm, and the ability to talk to the person at the door! The alarm is great. It beeps when there is motion, and the screen comes on.You can set it to record video after motion for 5, 15, or 30 seconds.I have it at 15 seconds.Battery on LCD viewer only lasts a dayIf you let it drain down, you have to reset time and date. That's a bummerSo I hooked up another charger for screen in other room.I couldn't get the PC software to work.It kept on asking for a registration, and could not set it up.There was no way to add the GE camera.Oh well. Not a biggieThought I would be able to use via an Apple App, but haven't found anything yet.Not worried about this side of itSince it's for when I'm home anywayDoor is 50 feet away, no problems with connectionIt paired instantly.I think the major negative on this would be the very narrow view that it has.I would have liked to seen a wider area that is covered, but this is like it's 100mm lens instead of a wider 15mm lens.If you know cameras, you know what I mean. I'm trying to be as simple as possible. You only see about 10 feet wide of what's in front of the lens. It's by the front door. The car is backed up in the carport/parking area. You can see the width of the car, plus a couple of feet on either side. That's it!Very narrow width of viewing.I could go out and measure, but I know I have a 20 foot carport tent/cover, and I can't see both sides of it.If there is a setting for this, I would love to know!Would like to find battery pack for camera, but not sure which one it takes.Need more researchYou have to use their (GE/Jasco) lithium battery or it won't recharge. Also would like to set it up for solar power, so can leave it down driveway.Besides that, I love it!Works greatVideo is goodFireflies set it off at night, pretty neatGreat for the pricefor what it doesCons:easier to find "talk" button on sideway to keep date/time info when battery runs downvideo on playback doesn't show date/timeMaybe it's a set up issue?Narrow view of area, less than 20 feet wide.UPDATE:September 27, 2016After less than a year, the battery in the monitor died.It won't hold a charge, and you can only use it on while it's on the power adapter.Lowered rating by one star, from four to three

Great for what it's intended to do.
This has helped us tremendously. I saw reviews that complained about poor range, but in my apartment that has never been an issue (the monitor and the camera are on opposite ends of the apartment and through a number of walls/doors). One thing that may be giving that impression is that your body seems to be very adept at causing interference, so constantly holding the monitor or standing directly over it can cause a skip in the picture. I've never had an issue sitting it in front of me on a table. In terms of features, I only use it as a video/audio monitor. Night vision is pretty clear, sound is pretty good at 3 or 4 bars. I've muted the alarm function (which will beep if a door opens on the other side of the apartment), and have only used the talkback feature rarely (my daughter is still only 1, and hearing our voices will only give her a moment's pause before she starts getting upset that we're not coming for her). The zoom/pan has served for us, just note that it cannot physically pan or tilt remotely (you have to position as needed beforehand). The battery on the monitor lasts about 4 hours, which is as much time as we have ever needed. Make sure it's docked or plugged and the red/green light shows on the side before you go to bed, as it won't beep before powering off if you've muted the alarm as we have. Only point of criticism I have is with the sturdiness of the camera, itself. At first I thought that the camera could swivel upside-down, only to learn that the back of the camera was just loosely glued to the base and only seemed to swivel until it popped off (and is now only supported by the AV cables within). That's partially my fault, but I would never have tried to turn it had it not been loose to start with. Good video monitor for what it is, but don't expect too much from even the best of these things.
