Ok

CTS might be a better choice!
2017 Jetta GLI (EA888 gen 3) Does this "work" yes and no This kit doesn't have a pcv adapter... CTS is on back order. I'll be pushing the quick release in as far as possible till I get a metal zip tie to hold me over till cts sells the adapter again. Another issue is the EA888 gen 3 engine does not have a MAF, yet this only comes with a MAF 3" pipe adapter. I'm forced to buy a 12" long by 3" silicone hose but until it comes in I need to put tape around the MAF hole. Lastly this does not come with a SAI filter, so until that comes in (ordered separately again) I have a lint free rag zip tied. As for quality, it's a cheap intake. I will have spent about another $60 to make it all work properly. Until then it's ghetto'd together. It's almost on par with a cts but about have the price. I emailed their support about all this and they did get back to me quickly but their answer was to just return it. I just spent all this time putting it together, I don't feel like taking it off. As for sound, it makes all the turbo noises... Kinda loud honestly. If that's what you want, then it's perfect. Performance, obviously nothing and is more for the chew chew noises. If it wasn't for the SAI, MAF, and PCV, this would be a decent intake. Welds suck but who cares. The 90deg bend leading into the turbo seems to be cut almost too short but it works. Maybe pre 2014 engines this will work better for. Do not recommend. Just get a CTS

Reasonable CAI. Needs work.
This cold air intake is reasonably well built and looks ok in black, and the included heat shield and pre-filter are a nice touch. However, it doesn’t come with a PCV adapter, and while the EA888 version 3 engine doesn’t have a MAF sensor, this intake has a MAF hole, so you’ll need an extra piece to make it fully compatible. There’s also no SAI filter included, so keep that in mind if your setup requires it. Overall, it’s an intake for a VW 1.8T/2.0T engines, but some additional components may be needed for proper installation.

My Beetle Found Its Roar (Without Losing Its Charm)
I always thought my VW Beetle was a gentle soul… until this cold air intake showed up. Installation was painless—about 40 minutes with basic tools—and suddenly my engine felt like it had been sipping espresso all morning. Acceleration is sharper, throttle response is snappier, and even hill climbs don’t feel like an endurance test anymore. The heat shield does its job quietly while the engine breathes deeper, and the pre-filter plus washable cotton filter gives me confidence that my little turbo is staying clean without constant maintenance. Bonus: the deeper growl under acceleration makes morning drives way more fun without turning my commute into a racetrack concert. Overall, this intake adds performance, attitude, and a touch of mischief while keeping my Beetle refined and civilized at cruising speeds. My car is happy, my ears are happy, and I might be grinning a little too much behind the wheel.

Disappointed - multiple issues right out of the box
I installed this cold air intake on my 2012 GTI expecting decent performance gains, but I've been disappointed with several aspects of this kit. The fitment wasn't as precise as advertised. The intake pipe required some forcing to line up with the throttle body connection. Had to loosen and adjust multiple times to get everything aligned properly. Shouldn't be that much of a struggle with a "direct fit" kit. The heat shield is flimsy and doesn't seal well against the fender area. There are gaps where hot engine bay air can easily get pulled in, which defeats the purpose of a "cold" air intake. The mounting brackets feel cheap and don't hold the shield securely. The filter that came with it looks lower quality than I expected. The pleats aren't as uniform as name-brand filters and the rubber mounting base feels thin. I'm not confident in the filtration quality for long-term engine protection. Installation took way longer than it should have - about 3 hours of fighting with fitment issues. Instructions were minimal and didn't address the alignment problems I encountered. Ended up watching multiple YouTube videos to figure out workarounds. The performance gains are minimal if they exist at all. I don't feel any noticeable difference in throttle response or power delivery. The intake sound is slightly louder but that's about the only change I can detect. The clamps provided are basic worm-gear style that feel cheap. One of them stripped while tightening, which was frustrating. Had to go buy better quality clamps separately to finish the install properly. After about a month of use, I'm noticing the filter getting dirty quickly. The pre-filter doesn't seem to be doing much to keep larger debris out. I'll probably need to clean it more frequently than I'd like. The powder coating on the pipe is already showing some chips and scratches from normal installation and engine vibration. Doesn't seem very durable for the price point. I've also noticed a slight whistling sound at certain RPMs that wasn't there before. Checked all the connections multiple times but can't seem to eliminate it completely. Annoying during highway driving. For the price, I expected better quality control and fitment. You can find name-brand intakes for not much more money that have better engineering and customer support. This feels like a budget option trying to compete with established brands but falling short. The heat shield design doesn't inspire confidence. It's basically a thin sheet of aluminum that flexes easily and doesn't create a proper sealed box. Hot air intrusion is definitely happening which hurts performance. I'm considering going back to the stock airbox honestly. At least that was reliable and didn't have fitment issues. This intake hasn't delivered the improvements I was hoping for and has introduced problems that weren't there before. If you're on a tight budget and willing to deal with fitment issues and questionable quality, this might work. But I'd recommend saving up for a better brand that has proven reliability and proper engineering. Not worth the headache in my opinion.
