Excellent build quality, very heavy, the tubes dont fit as tightly as they should
I bought this so I could travel 700 miles with my kayak on top of my jeep. We had a similar product made from Thule in the family but since I was not coming back anytime soon I decided to buy my own. The comparable Thule item is 4 times the price of this one and is not nearly as heavy duty. The uprights are about 4 inches tall so they are basically useless. There are also no tie down spots like on this one. This has several tie downs making it very easy to secure items overhead. The biggest issue is the tubes don't fit together very well, the insert tubes are SIGNIFICANTLY smaller than the outer tubes which results in a wobbly product. This is rectified by purchasing a couple of the hitch tighteners and installing them at the hitch and where the tubes connect. Another option is to use ratchet tie downs and tightening the heck out of them which will prevent the whole thing from wobbling. Based on the build quality and price, this is a great buy.

It's a strong unit that will work well, but only with a couple of minor modifications.
I've given this unit 4 stars only because I added a "hitch tightener" to the system. A hitch tightener is what the seller should have included with the product as this additional device is abolultely necessary to safe and stable operation of the unit.. Without the hitch tightener, I would give the unit just two stars. At first, I was disappointed in this product for the following reasons; (1) The unit fit very loosely into the receiver on my pick up and even when the unit is secured with ratchet type load straps, it wobbles badly and is very unstable. (2) Unless you are willing to buy an "anti-rattle/wobble" device for an additional $24.00, you won't be happy with the way this unit fits into your vehicle hitch receiver. (3) So, I strongly suggest that you spend the money and purchase a hitch tightener that is sold by Amazon. You won't be disappointed with that choice.(4) The unit does not fit deeply enough into the receiver, causing vertical and lateral instability and safety issues. To help make this unit fit more solidly in the receiver, I drilled an additional "pin" hole in the part of the unit that fits into the receiver of my vehicle. The method I sued to determine the location of the hold was to push the part of the unit that fits into the receiver into the receiver until I could feel the unit become "flush" with the back of the receiver. This modification allowed the unit to fit an additional 4 inches into the receiver thus making it more stable and safe. This modification along with the hitch tightener is all you'll need to do to make this unit perform perfectly.

Life saver
This thing has worked amazing! It saves me a lot of time and issues. I can load up 16' boards on my truck and not have to mess with the trailer.

The Tricam Ez Load Extender is a great buy and very well made
The Tricam Ez Load Extender is a great buy and very well made! I am very pleased with my purchase it is perfect for loading my kayak onto my Pilot for both long distance on the roof and in the cargo area for quick recovery by flipping the Extender around. I was looking a goal post style hitch mount that would fit my Nucanoe due to it's wide width and found this to be the perfect for carrying it and other yak's. The Extender is heavy duty not thin wall steel but, still light enough to handle without straining your back. I have looked at many different goal post style load extenders but, this is the best buy for roof extenders and most versatile. I carried my NuCanoe Classic 12 on it last weekend to the beach and it did not budge both to and from the beach on curvy roads with broken pavement. I am using it with my Yakima rack system and it makes loading the Nucanoe a one man job! No worrying about scratching the roof or losing your load while traveling. I highly recommend it!

Awesome , durable, and multi versatile
Works great. I like the versatility of not having a full time ladder rack . I use this along with a headache rack and it works perfectly for long items... or, drop the tail gate and have it extend out that way... awesome product. Well thought out and inexpensive . I use with a f250 with 2 inch hitch

The price was pretty good for a reasonably well-constructed product (but needs two hitch tighteners)
I purchased this product to support a 16' kayak in the bed of my 2005 Mazda B2300 pickup. It gets the job done, but there are some issues as outlined below.Pros:*Price*Heavy duty construction*Powdercoated*Configurable for both vertical and horizontal useCons:*Locking pin hole where it mates to the hitch was not drilled straight. I had to elongate one side so the pin would slide through.*When the assembly was set up horizontally, with the vertical bar at its lowest setting, it was taller than my tailgate by about an inch. And by lowest setting, I mean that the vertical bar is down all the way and doesn’t line up with the locking hole. So it just floats and wiggles, with no way to lock it in place. If I were to line up the holes, the top bar would be 3” above my tailgate. Which brings me to my next con…*Hitch tightener at the truck is a must. However, the connection of the two pieces of the assembly also has a lot of slop when using the provided pin. I consider the use of a second hitch tightener for this connection a must as well. With both tighteners, the whole assembly is rock solid. Here's the tightener that I used: Stainless Steel "Quiet-Collar" Hitch Tightener by HitchTech Conclusion:The price was pretty good for a reasonably well-constructed product(minus the need for elongating a hole). But if you want to get the job done safely and securely, the addition of two hitch tighteners is a must (+$28.00).

Getting Hitched
Made extremely well. Definitely get the additional hitch tightener to prevent any wobble or slop when driving. I'm using it to help support our 2 canoes and it does a great job. Tried it out yesterday and works flawlessly. Best part about it is I now have a multi purpose device to carry anything larger than my short truck bed. Carrying wood or anything longer than my short bed truck will now be a breeze.. Set up and break down in about 30 seconds flat. Great product, well made,

Very handy item
I use this a lot, as a contractor. I found it didn't insert into the hitch very far, so drilled a new hole to push it in for peace of mind. Good value for the money.
