Cratoni C-Hawk Bicycle Helmet

***** UPDATE *****I ordered a new helmet in the L / XL size. This helmet fits me perfectly, and it is truly a very nice helmet. In fact, the best helmet I have ever owned.***** END *****Don't get me wrong - this is a fantastic, very lightweight helmet. And you don't look like a moron with it on the head :-)But sizing is wrong. I am 57.5 cm around my head, so of course I ordered the M/L version which should adjust from fifty-something to 59 cm. Not so, the helmet was uncomfortably tight, especially over the temples. There was nothing to do adjustment-wise about it, save starting to cut away the hard foam - but this isn't really the idea.Unfortunately I live overseas and send things from the States to where I live through a freight forwarder. The cost of returning the helmet is prohibitive, so this one goes to the girlfriend.... For this reason I do extensive research every time I buy something in different sizes - but it is not made easy when the sizing guide is misleading.The helmet comes with extra foam padding pads, a very nice storage bag plus a comprehensive guide to fitting the helmet.

I have a big head and could not find any wearable bike helmet in Walmart and Target. The description of the helmet claims it is XXL and I gave it a try. The helmet indeed fits my head well and it is comfortable. If you cannot find a really-large bike helmet, please try this one!

This bike helmet is big enough! Adjustment was easy. I did not need any of the extra pads provided. Ratchet tensioner on back strap works ok.

My son loves this helmet. It is light, comfortable and well made. The price was amazingly low. What a deal!

Excellent fit, nice and light too, and good ventilation. Works better for me without the visor, it reduces ventilation and blocks my view a little. It would also add to rider safety, if the back of the helmet was the same Hi Vis yellow as the top.

Horrible product. Tightening wheel ceased to function after less than 10 rides. Seller honored no refund.

Great helmet for the fraction of the cost. Totally satisfied.

Well built, lightweight, airy with good options. Had an accident where the helmet was dented but I was otherwise fine so I bought another.

Fits well

I wanted to replace an Alpina Mythos helmet because the front cushioning band kept falling off. My main criteria was for a helmet manufactured in Europe. Having shopped online long and hard for a new helmet, I decided on a Cratoni. They seemed to have a good quality/price ratio and where made in Germany, or so I thought. Turns out they're made in China. That would only be one disappointing factor, if it were not for the spotty finish.Whereas on the Mythos, the lines are smooth and clear at the seams where the foam and the plastic meet, on the C-Hawk the foam sometimes sort of "overflows" at the seams. There are sometimes small gaps in other parts too. Not only that, when trying to remove the inside lining, some Velcro points came off with the lining. This is not what I expected from a helmet at this price range (especially at MSRP). Less important, but still a point of consideration for me are the looks. Let's face it, there are much better looking helmets at this price.To be fair, I should mention the good points. The helmet felt good on my head. The adjustment system uses small increments meaning a better fit. Cratoni include nice add-ons like thicker pads, pads with a bug net, and a helmet bag.I am giving this an average score as the helmet does come with nice goodies and is a good helmet all in all, albeit average looking. I am subtracting points for the disappointing finish (almost low quality), the glued Velcro that came off, and the fact that's made in China.
