Check you Internet Modem before buying
Great little gadget but beware it only works on 5 Ghz. I had to return it as I bought it for my niece who only has a 2.5 Ghz modem. Check your Internet Modem before buying.

Good Design but does not work properly on Mavericks and not at all on Yosemite.
Does not work properly - under OSX Mavericks. And it does not work at all under Yosemite - with the next OSX only a few weeks away too !!!! Design and installation software are fine. However in use the signal frequently drops out which didnt happen on my Macbook internal wireless signal. And then when I have to restart its necessary to put in manually your password - time consuming. If they put in a few man-hours on improving and updating the software then it could be a great product. not much point in putting out a product like this that doesnt work. I returned it to Amazon for a full refund.

looks great down hill from there
Doesn't seem to work all that well, keeps dropping connection with 5g and as it doesn't support any other bands will find myself with very few places to connect. The device looks great and delivery was very fast (came the next day) I'm sure there are a number of better wifi adapters that cost a lot less.

I get really quick connection and it seems pretty stable. Couldn't find a really good set-up guide ...
My 2008 macbook lost its internal airport so no more wifi, none of the software tricks on the internet solved the issue so assumed its hardware/cable this device saved me having to buy a new laptop. Getting it working however, was a massive chore. Firstly it only works on 5Ghz so you may need a new router (I did, but swapped my router for a reconditioned Time Capsule which does connect to this device) with El Capitan you have to download the driver from the website, the one on the disk doesn't work. I managed to get it to talk to wifi relatively quickly via the wireless utility on channel 48 but getting the laptop to access the internet (mail, safari etc) took me ages. In the end I followed these instructions for resolving wifi issues:[...]After deleting the preference files, I set up the wifi from scratch (using DHCP) as described and all went smoothly. I get really quick connection and it seems pretty stable. Couldn't find a really good set-up guide for this anywhere - hope this helps anyone struggling to get it working.EDIT: After a couple of weeks of constant use I can report this is working great ! A couple of weeks on however, Edimax customer support still haven't replied - good job I was able to figure it out !

Works OK on Windows 10 and 8.1 32 bit, linux support is basically a lie
Update: works OK on Windows 10My convertible laptop upgraded itself to Windows 10 from 8.1 (32 bit), and the EW7711MAC stopped working. I deinstalled the drivers, downloaded new drivers from Edimax which are a little newer, and they work OK on Windows 10. I get much better speed than with the integrated Realtek R8723BS SDIO adaptor.I bought this to try and get better wifi speed on my windows 8 tablet hybrid (Toshiba Click Mini) and that was successful. Loading web pages was much snappier. The driver quality seems OK.I am only giving this 3 stars because of the misleading statement that there are Linux drivers available which was a key feature for me.The adapter's chipset is from Mediatek. You can download a driver from Edimax's web site, which is a zip of a tar.bz2. However, the quality of the code is very poor, and it fails to compile. In desperation I tried disabling all warnings and errors to try and build it, but it still failed (kernel 4.1 or 4.2-rc4) - it simply won't compile, just lazy/incompetent use of variable types. Edimax's technical support were helpful but powerless, saying that the driver had been written for kernel version 2.6.

Replacement for failed MacBook Pro wireless card
When the wireless card in my MacBookPro failed I tried a couple of other different makes of USB Wireless Adapters and none of them were compatible with the latest version of OSX. However the sone has worked perfectly since day one. Signal strength is very good and it performs better than the inbuilt card with its far bigger aerial.Excellent performance, well made and highly recommended.

It should not be necessary being an Informatic System's Engineer to use this product
(sorry, I don't speak english, so I'll do my best to explain my situation) This product does not work in my 2013 MacBook Pro. This, because it does not recognize the nearest wireless Internet networks (I'm in a university, so i'm using a public wifi). I required assistance from the company, but the response was "It could be possible that the wireless network is using a frequency band 2, but the product can detect only band frequencies 1. You can check the router configuration ..." ¬¬It is impossible for my doing something like that. My point is : It should not be necessary being an Informatic System's Engineer to use this product. I needed something that works "plug and play" (like all the Mac OS products). If huge computer skills are needed to operate a product like this, my conclusion is that this product is not recommended for ordinary people.

Dislike
Poorly madeTerrible reception50MHz onlyBreaks easily (although seems more robust than their terrible black ones)Hard to remove due to it having no gripThe light is on one side, so depending on the orientation of the USB sockets on your laptop/computer this light might not be visible.Over-priced "for Mac" even though it's just a generic dongle. I think they're saying the silver colour means it's for Mac.
