The drafting and manufacturing of this kit is impressive.
I was considering making something myself out of wood by using the laser cutter I have. This would have meant drawing up plans and making sure to consider everything for a successful project, so I am aware of the work that went into making the laser patterns for this windmill project. The attention to detail was astounding and, I would say, flawless, right down to millimeter thin relief cuts which allow the wood to flex slightly when inserting into a mortice and tenon type of joint. The directions booklet, the wood itself, the experience making the kit, everything was wonderful.I am in awe of the attention to details of the technical issues involved and which were, in my estimation, 100%.Next step is to buy make another model; perhaps the lamp this time.

I am I, Don Quixote, so watch out, windmill!
The media could not be loaded. I have posted reviews on Amazon for other 3-D wooden puzzles and become a big fan. This is the first I’ve made by Wood Trick. I’m not being compensated for this review. All the plywood is basically the thickest other companies use for just some of their parts, so it’s very sturdy. Nothing wobbles as the finished windmill is wound and working.Freeing the parts can be a problem with arthritis. Some hand strength is needed. Using small items like scrap wood was helpful to pop parts out. Some had to be freed by cutting them out. With puzzles made by other companies, there can be large numbers of easily breakable parts, but not so much a problem here.Don’t let comments about toothpicks worry you. The use of alternate connectors of plywood and toothpicks make incredibly strong gear assemblies. Connector insertion is aided by a little sanding or more wax. I keep white candles from birthday cakes for extra wax.To get problem toothpicks through holes without breakage, more wax and clipping off the end,and using a flat piece of wood to push it through was helpful.Problem-solving while assembling these puzzles is one of their attractions. They certainly aid my cognitive skills. Most common problem? My mistakes in assembling or installing a part. And I think sometimes the pictures aren’t obvious enough. But maybe that’s me, too. This is an amazing machine powered by 4 rubber bands and some thread. Friends are fascinated! The biggest surprise: you make a ratchet gear with tiny wooden parts that needs to turn only one way - and it really works. All in all, great fun from Wood Trick.

Very cute!
It’s cute and so far the easiest one to assemble from the ones we have put together.

Engineering fun!
I got this for my engineer husband, and even though he's an electrical engineer, not a mechanical one, he really enjoyed putting it together. A mechanical engineer would probably have a heart attack halfway through from sheer joy at how well this thing in made. It went together with no issues, it's a good looking object, and it really works. Note that the directions may tell you to get rubber bands in various sizes, but it turned out this kit did not need any.

PATIENTS IS OF VIRTUE!
The media could not be loaded. I like this model / PUZZLE very much! I found that the INTERNATIONAL instructions a bit UNCLEAR! But when you are giving instructions based on a PICTORIAL view without any WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS, you better look VERY CLOSELY! I suggest you look ahead to see where the other assembled pieces fit together. I enhanced my DUTCH WINDMILL with led lights ( available from AMAZON, 6 pack was under $10 & each strand is 3 feet long ). I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PUZZLE TO ANYONE WITH a good knowledge of modeling! ( not for BEGINNERS! ) I look forward to adding to my COLLECTION! Thanks again for such an entertaining model / PUZZLE 3-D EDGAR van VEEN

Almost great
It looks amazing. Seems easy to put together. Some of the gears are cut through and I’m unsure how to get the wood pieces to stay together since they are cut and in two pieces. Looking for a solution now. It looks like they don’t have extra parts.
