Just plug in the S-AIR speaker system and you are ready to stream audio to another room from your compatible Sony home theater system. The S-AIR speaker system features a one line LCD Display, a clock function, and is equipped with controls for volume and the audio source you are listening to.

Doesn't work with HDMI from my DN1000, plays Analog only
Excluding my speakers, my Sony S-AIR Stereo consists of the STR-DN1000 with the EZWT100 adapter, Two WAHT-SA10's for 7.1 surround sound, and now this AIRSA10. It's a fantastic addition as now I can place this AIRSA10 anywhere I want in or outside of my house and I get full audio even. I can even get audio from my AIRSA10 with the DN1000 off if I turn on the "Stand By" mode in my DN1000's SAIR menu.I can set the SAIR channel to "Separate" in the DN1000's menu and I can pick whatever analog input I want to hear from my DN1000, I don't even have to have that input selected on my television. If I select "Party" within my DN1000's menu the TV's input will change when I press the "SAIR" button on my AIRSA10.My only gripe is when toggling through the inputs that the AIRSA10 is getting from my DN1000 it does NOT list the HDMI inputs. My DN1000 has 4 HDMI inputs but the AIRSA10 picks up none of them. Luckly, like I said before, the AIRSA10 will pick up the analog inputs even if my receiver does not have that input selected for what I'm watching on TV. So what I did was get analog cables and connect them from my ATT Set top box to my DN1000's TV input. So now I can select HDMI 1 on my remote so I can watch television, and then on my AIRSA10 I select the TV (analog) Input and I get audio from my stereo and my AIRSA10.It's pretty cool indeed. I like this unit a lot and I just now opened it up. I plan on using it outside during football season while I'm grilling and can't really run in dirty and smelling of BBQ to watch TV on the couch. I'm sure that will make my wife happy, not so sure when I'll tell her I bought it, lol.A couple notes:- The AIRSA10 is ONLY a wireless receiving unit, it does not have it's own analog input on it.- You can select radio stations that are preset on your receiver. So it's sort of like a radio, just don't take it out of range of the main receiver.

Old Technology but Just What I Need
There's a lot of misinformation in the reviews and it sounds like they are talking about more than one product. First, the Sony S-Air technology was a precursor to Sony's AirPlay. I prefer this over Bluetooth because your devices are synced, whereas if you have Bluetooth, you can't sync. As for as I know, with bluetooth your limited to one at device at a time. Also, keep in mind that S-Air requires 2.4 Ghz bandwidth. The units perform nicely together all in sync, amd there is no compression. I have not had mine interfere with Hue lights, Kevo, etc. and have been very pleased. It is older discontinued technology, but it does exactly what I want. I have a laptop dedicated to S-Air in the kitchen and can play to my AirSA10 speakers just fine. I don't use the remote, but have. I can't remember if I bought it separately, but I prefer to go to my my music library or online radio station, YouTube, etc. and just play from there without much use for the remote. You're not guaranteed to get the plastic receiver. Some I've purchased have, others don't, so read the the description from the seller. You can buy them separately for around 10 dollars. I have an AIR-PC10T dongle for my PC and can pair to the units. I'm pretty sure you can pair to up to as many as 10. I have 7 now.. The back of each unit has an A B C switch, so if you want to pair these in a grouped fashion (one room has A, your patio has B, etc,) you can, then from your PC just select which group you want to play from. You do have to buy the dongle separately. S-Air is not compatible with AirPlay,. Note also - some of these used units I've purchased off Amazon have not worked. If I hadn't had working units, I would have thought it was my settings, etc.

Some good; here's the bad
Unit has good & bad points. The good you can glean from elsewhere; this focuses on the bad, so you can determine if it's a deal-breaker for you:-No mute. Combined with no remote control, there's no way to shut off the audio feed quickly, except reaching for the power button or the mode button. If you use this unit to listen to TV (I have it outside on the patio, to enable watching TV through the picture window while enjoying a cigar or cheroot), that's a major detriment when blaring commercials suddenly come blasting through in the middle of a quiet movie soundtrack. (The mute on your main amp has no effect on this unit's output.)--Overwhelming bass, with no means of controlling it. Designed way too way too high to match its puny main speakers imo. I currently have paper towels stuffed in the woofer cones, and am seeking a more muffling method. While booming bass may be good for some music, when you have a TV news soundtrack that overpumps its bass to give the anchorman an authoritative sound, it overwhelms the midrange so that at 8 watts output you can barely make out what they're saying.--[related to the above] No mute or tone controls. The unit has yes count-'em 13 buttons on the top of the unit, and the two basics of mute and tone/equalizer are not among them. Instead you get things like alarm settings....--No remote-controlling the unit itself. You're limited to remote-controlling the main amp only. So you need to have it plugged in nearby where you'll be listening to it to be able to reach those top buttons in a hurry.--In spite of carefully positioned promotional photographs, don't be fooled into thinking this unit doesn't have a requisite power cord running out the back (I wasn't, but it sure is obvious they're hiding it in those photographs).--Perhaps a location-specific glitch, but when pairing Channel C, I would regularly inexplicably lose connection about once a week, and have to reset everything. If you're pairing the unit (to avoid interference w/any neighbors' units), you might want to avoid C; I'm finding Channel B is working fine for that.
