Thorpe 1835 Master Baker Rolling Pin

I am a potter and I use this to roll out clay slabs. It's perfect! Heavy and long enough to make large slabs for platters. I'm happy with the rolling pin. However, it was packed very poorly. Both handles were poking out of the box when it arrived. Someone just plonked it diagonally in the box without securing it, so it rolled around and pushed through the cardboard, Companies that want to sell through Amazon need to know how to pack items for shipment.

I bought this rolling pin specifically for rolling out croissant dough, which has to be handled quickly and because of it size and weight, it is very effective for this purpose.

I am a professional baker and recently purchased this product with high hope since it was listed as a "professional " model. However, after only a half a dozen uses one of the handles developed a crack and shortly after that the metal end cap that hold's the handle on fell off. I haven't contacted the company yet to see what they can do about it but so far I am disappointed.

This rolling pin is what I have been looking for for years!I used to own a bakery and when I sold off the equipment so went the rolling pin.This rolling pin is perfect, both heavy enough and long/wide enough to get the job done. And the handles do not bend when you push on them.

The pin is lighter than the older pin and the handles are about 1/2" shorter. The roller/barrel has a sharp edge versus a finished/smooth/rounded edged. The roller/barrel is not finished - its raw, sanded wood.

It is surprisingly difficult to find a large, handled rolling pin. This one is awesome. The weight of it makes rolling out pizza dough a breeze, and it is actually quite wide (not just wide including the handles). The rolling action is very smooth. My 6'9" husband loves it.

What can I say, This rolling pin is the answer to all my rolling needs. I love it, its big and heavy and my Moravian Spice cookies come out ultra thin. I enjoy when a product exceeds expectation.
