economic solution to a common problem
I have two TIC outdoor speakers on my pool deck wired into the b-channel of the entertainment system in my great room (great sound by the way!). Anyway my pioneer elite system is about 5 years old before ethernet connections, music sharing, pandora, etc. became ubiquitous throughout the industry. So I currently have pandora running off of my internet connected blue ray player (SAMSUNG) through my receiver and out to the yard into my two speakers. So what's the problem? Well, invariably I need to get off my duff and point my remote through the back door to increase/reduce volume and/or give the song a thumb's up or thumb's down. Solution: rf extender, just slap the battery style transmitter into the remote you want to use and position the infrared repeater (the flying saucer shaped device) in line of site to your unit(s) and away you go. I can now control my volume and voting controls on a single remote from about 50 feet away through a brick exterior wall on my pool patio. The remote I'm using is the programmable unit that comes with my pioneer elite receiver. It takes 'AA' batteries so I had to slide the transmitter and small rechargeable battery into the 'AA' adapter that comes with the kit. The kit comes with two rechargeable batters, the transmitter (looks like a 'AAA' battery), the 'AA' adapter, the infrared base unit and a wired extender if you want to place it inside your entertainment center. The base unit can charge both batteries at the same time, so you'll always have one ready. I mounted the unit about 16 feet from my entertainment center close to an electrical outlet and the unit works reasonably well. I do have to fiddle with it's position on the bookshelf a bit, so I've already purchased the 3 eye infrared wired extender and intend on mounting the base unit in my entertainment center. So I would recommend purchasing this adapter if you have more than one device to control and don't have a line of site position that you can place the base unit so that it can control everything. Also my wife says that it doesn't "feng shui" her so another 20 bucks with shipping and everyone will be happy. Overall very pleased with the product, works great and should work even better with the 3-eye extenders coming in the mail. I will update once I get it, otherwise I'll give it a 4 out of 5 for now.6/23/21 5 out of 5 with the 3 eye infrared extender! Works great. The base unit is now hidden in the entertainment center and the "eye's" are attached to the inside of the glass of my entertainment center approximately aligned with the infrared receiver of the A/V tuner and the blue ray. Works great and is totally hidden from view. Really makes the patio sound complete.

Works Like A Charm!
I purchased this item to facilitate control of my audio components (located inside my home) while listening to music through my outdoor speakers (in the back yard). This device works perfectly! I have an average-sized yard and my remote now works from every corner! No more going inside to adjust the volume, change a pre-loaded CD or select a different source. I love it! The product is supplied with two rechargeable batteries (so you can charge one while using the other in your remote), but each battery lasts for weeks at a time, so battery changes are few and far between. Better still, by purchasing an optional multi-eye adapter, you can control multiple devices from a distance when you use a universal remote! (Purchasing additional transmitters separately will allow you to accomplish this same task using individual remotes instead.) I researched many options before deciding on this product, some costing much more, but none were as simple to use and none offered better reliability or value. It is important to note that if you desire to use this product with your mini-dish receiver, the manufacturer specifies you must purchase the 418MHz model to avoid performance issues caused by frequency conflicts... otherwise either model is a great choice. One final note; While I have not experience a single problem with this product, and would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to increase the range of their remote control, I purchased this product direct from Amazon and their description of the item indicated "NEW" at the time I placed my order. Much to my surprise, when the item arrived, in a sealed cardboard shipping box, the blister pack inside, containing the item, had already been opened (requiring the use of scissors or a knife) and the smaller parts were floating loose inside the box. I have made purchases through Amazon in the past, and never have I encountered a situation such as this, before. Because the device has functioned without problem, I have not made an issue of the situation... still, I was (and remain) troubled by this unusual occurrence.

Worked flawless - for a week
Received the Next Generation Remote Control Extender and installed it very easily. The product worked beautifully for about a week and then just quit working. I tried recharging the battery in the base unit several times and replacing the other batteries in my remote along with it. I finally unplugged everything and let it sit for a few days, then plugged it back in. It worked for a few minutes and then quit working again. In debugging IR remotes and such, I often use the display screen on my digital camera as you can see in the LCD viewfinder when the IR led's on infrared remotes are working. I see nothing from the IR leds in the receiver indicating that the base unit is just not responding. I do not recommend this product.

Works OK, if it works at all
I've had two of these devices. The first one worked reasonably well. Hard to know when battery is dying, or if it's just missing some button clicks. Second one did not work at all, due seemingly to the tolerancing of the RF signal generator (active device) and the battery adapter sleeve. Simply never worked.
