Quality assured.
When I ordered these headphones, I had been using some Panasonic surround sound headphones for some time and had been quite happy with them but they were starting to fail so got these. Couldn't believe the difference in sound quality, you can really hear a pin drop. Also I have a Sky Q box with the new Dolby Digital Plus found system and these headphones can decode this signal .What a difference. I know these headphones aren't cheap but quality never is. I can whole heatedly recommend them to anyone. Wish I had bought them ages ago.

Perfect for movies. A missing market in headphones
If you want to experience the full quality of your blu rays at full volume with booming sound subwoofered without pissing off neighbours or family members then this is for you. The sound is near perfection and really puts you in the film. Also great for video games and music. Only downsides are they are bloody expensive yet very flimsy and plasticy. Be very gentle with these. Not sure why they are so I mean considering the price tag you'd expect durability.I wish more headphone manufacturers would move into the movie market instead of just video games.

Terrific background noise free quality headphones
These are very substantial headphones and consequently quite heavy on the head. The sound quality is superb without a crackle or hiss (unlike my previous set which annoyed me greatly). In practice the range is approx 25-30 feet In my lounge. The sound breaks-up when I go upstairs or opposite end of the house. These are very minor gripes I still give 5*s for quality, ease of use, functionality, aesthetics and lack of background noise.I haven't tested the unit for battery longevity as they work fine for listening to a couple of films then returning to the cradle to be recharged.

A delay in response, only suitable for continuous music
Unfortunately, at twice the price of the Sony MDR RF 865, these headphones are not as good as the Sony MDR RF 865. I bought them hoping they would be a lot better than the Sony MDR RF 865. I tried to use them on my digital piano, but there is a delay in the response, which is no good if you are trying to play a piece of music. The delay is only small but it is enough to have a bad effect on my playing. Maybe if they are only used for listening to just continuous music, they maybe ok.

Definitely recommended top line Sony product
Excellent product. I have been using it with my TV and Playstation since two years and I can assure you that the sound quality is top. They are a bit expensive but sound quality and quality of the materials is really excellent. I connected them with an optical cable ensuring zero quality loss. Battery is very good and you can use them for hours. As soon as you put them back in their stand, they begin to recharge again. Definitely recommended.

... 3 years later
"You purchased this item on 25 Mar 2013."... 3 years later and I have them on my head right now as I type this review.Pros- Never had the battery run out in a single session.- No lag noticeable when watching TV shows/movies.- Sound is top quality.- Adjustable head band on sides.- Charging is so handy (pop the headphones on the stand and walk away; no need to turn them off).- Comfortable for extended usage.- Wore these exercising for many hours with no issues regarding sweat (not best practice).- A small projection on the right ear helps you find the power button without looking (its the small things that count).Cons- Replacement parts are a nightmare to obtain and fit.- The Sony ear pads were squeaky for a while until "broken in" very comfortable otherwise .- Standing near a microwave results in in-terfe-re-n-ce.- May interfere with other devices if running on the same radio frequency bandwidth (keep other RF broadcasting devices apart).- The lights on the front can't be turned off (slightly annoying if you enjoy watching movies in the dark).- Sound leak. these are not ideal if you are planning on watching a movie while your partner is asleep in the bed beside you.

Superb sound and build quality
I`d love to give 5 starts but can`t. These are an outstanding pair of cans with superb sound quality and build but for 2 small niggles. The on/off button could be slightly more prominent to allow easier use but more importantly, after half an hour, I start to get sore ears. They may slacken off over time but doubt it. I use them every night for an hour or so and definitely end up stretching them at time to ease the pain. As for the rest, outstanding kit.And no, I don`t have a head like a space hopper.

Comfortable, easy install, no interference.
Short review to cover a couple of things that I struggled to find: Firstly these cans are excellent for those of us with larger heads! Plenty of adjustment and the cups are slanted internal design allowing your ears to comfortable sit within then with no pressure on your ear cartilage. Secondly I have two wifi networks on 2.4 Ghz band in my house and I put one on channel 11 and the other on channel one, I get no interference whatsoever and I also have a DECT phone in the same room. Finally build quality is great and the charging stand is also easy to slot on and off throughout the day. Great buy, highly recommended.
