Outdoor Microphone Furry Windscreen Muff for TAKSTAR SGC-598

Have been using this archery season and has been working great for our YouTube videos.

Cant ding it too bad because the price was cheap. I have the Original RODE VideoMic and Pro which was 300 bucks and they use this just fine. However, this doesnt do all that good at reducing wind noise and i think its due to seams? its more flat than round and just seems to allow too much wind noise past. We tried brushing/fluffing it and that helped a lot. Maybe brushing it out with a spritz of hairspray helped. Shipped basically smashed and flattened into a plastic bag so thats annoying - but its 10 bucks.IT DOES do better than the foam alone (marked decrease in wind noise) but no where near as well as others.That being said, was it worth 10 bucks?Yes., absolutely. buy one. It decreases wind noise by 75% easily... brush it out and a light spray of hairspray while spinning it on a handle fluffed it right out. (The fluffier the better, the more the "hairs" stand straight out the better wind noise reduction) used aqua net, a light mist while spinning it on a drill attachment. worked perfectly...A similar one for my Rode VideoMic is 60 bucks. you make the call on that one. the Rode version is about twice the length "fur" and much denser.And to be 100% honest? The Cheapo TakStar 598 mic has better sound than the VideoMic, and cost 1/15th the money... ive actually plugged them in side by side and the TakStar has better high and low range response. the Rode has a white noise whooosshhh that comes thru in low audio passages. I returned it and they sent me a brand new one with same problem (on 4 diff cameras, not the cameras fault)

I am in awe of the difference in the audio when using this! Wow wow wowww!! For real, this will not fail you and it fits perfectly to the Takstar Mic. It is truly amazing, check out my insta (@sofiamarroquin.s), one of the last IGTV videos, I filmed it with this, AMAZING!

Fit over the included tacstar windscreen perfectly. Used to film turkey hunts and was catching birds gobble at the edge of my ear’s ability. Good job cutting out wind

I was hoping for something that looked like the picture, and it sort of does, but it's too big. It fits like an old wool sock, stretched out (it doesn't stretch, just too loose). It's too wide, and too long, it looks sloppy, and it's sewn pretty poorly as well, again, like and old cheap too-big sock.I'm sure it works fine for me at home filming myself and family, but I wouldn't want to take this into any sort of professional setting. It looks hokey.

Let me start by saying I rarely ever give bad reviews and this is an exception. First off, when I opened the muff from the package it was sealed flat which basically means it will retain a flat shape for its whole life. Second, the material is horrible. It literally started shedding when I first put it on my mic and the elastic band at the opening fell apart the first day. Horrible horrible quality.

So I have done some testing with this "dead cat" and I have got to say that it does its job surprisingly well. I do a lot of run and gun shooting in the city (Dallas) at night. It has been pretty windy as of late which prompted me to buy this. It was night and day compared to the audio before i purchased it (which I had to go and re-shoot) So i cannot recommend this thing enough especially if you are on a tight budget.

Perhaps I received the wrong one, but it is much too big to fit the Takstar SGC-598.Update- I have been advised by the seller that this windscreen goes OVER the foam windscreen and not in place of it. I tried it and it fits correctly. I had never considered using one windscreen on top of the other, so I will see how it works.

Took a while to get this, but I was made aware of that in the discription. But saved a lot of money for this furry wind screen. Works well.
