Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When home-steading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection. See more

A well-made boot!
I had wanted a pair of Frye's for a while, but the price tag always scared me off. I ended up buying these boots for $115 with the promotion and incentives at the time of purchase, which was over two years ago. At the time, I was living in Michigan so they made it through 2 Michigan winters and a lot of wear. They still look great and the only real wear is on the heel, which will probably last another two or more years before I have to consider having them resoled. This is a quality boot that I am happy I got for such an incredible price. Just as an example, I recently bought a pair of lace up boots from DSW and, without naming the brand, they sole completely detatched from the shoe. Those boots were $109 and lasted 6 weeks. Thankfully, DSW gave me a store credit. I am mailing the gift card they gave me to my niece for her 4th birthday. That same day I bit the bullet and bought my second pair of Frye's at their flagship store here in Atlanta, full price. Frye boots are expensive up front, but you truly save money in the end.I included some photos, keep in mind I've had these for over two years now.

Love these boots.
Ok so there was a few bad reviews on these but I figured hey I’ll give em a shot. Worst case I get a refund. That said my boots are brand new still, only being able to wear them a couple days out of the week doesn’t help to break them in very quickly, and when they arrived they were very dry. So I grabbed my boot brush and some mink oil. I’ve always used mink oil on leather in small amounts so I don’t soften the leather to much. Now they look great. As I said they’re a bit tight when they’re new, especially in the middle and heel, but that’s how any shoe is. Time will tell how they hold up. But a little time and effort got them right as rain. I love them.

Not great
Seems like the boots are made from different leather. Didn't notice till after they started breaking in but the right boot is soft and falling down while the right is stiff and they feel completely different like one is thinner than the other. Wish I had noticed before the return window closed, pretty disappointed in these boots. After breaking in I rarely wear them because they look different enough that it's noticable from a distance. I wouldn't recommend these boots, either Amazon sells the ones that should end up in discount stores for full price or the quality control is bad. Either way these aren't worth the amount of money that I paid for them.

Narrowish fit great for women!!!
These boots are perfect! I'm a ladies 11 B and the width and length is perfect. These would likely NOT fit the average men's 9 D as they are narrow. They were tight and pulled on hard the first few times. Use the pull loops. I used a boot jack to pull them off. But I wore them in the house the night I got them and did take them off a couple times. Now they fit like they should. A little drop in the heel and room to wiggle my toes, but snug through the instep. I have several good cowboy boots and these easily compare to how a well made western boot fits in the footbed. I wish I'd had these when I was riding horses, and when I broke my ankle in a motorcycle accident. The leather is very nice quality, the charcoal color is rich, the toes and heels are almost black. Stitching is good and the insole and lining are minimal. Will buy again and highly recommend.

Great Boots
Received these boots about a week ago. First thing I did upon unpacking was remove the cardboard inserts. There are several, and apparently some people have never bought shoes before and missed the pieces inside the shoe. Reach down in there and take them out.Next thing I did was trimmed and installed a pair of insoles. That's right, these boots don't come with insoles. Unlike your Nike's, most boots do not come with insoles. I personally like the Dr. Scholl's "Work Boot" gel inserts at the low-end (they're about $10) and SuperFeet Green (about $40) at the high end. Select an insole that best matches your foot and biomechanics. Don't know? Go to a qualified shoe store (a specialized running store is best) and have them watch you walk and run. Finally, I selected a quality boot sock. Point 6, Fox River or Smartwool are good choices. After a week of fairly steady wear, including three straight days, the boots are properly broken in and fit great. I do wish the shaft was about 1/2" smaller, but the wider mouth does make the boot easier to put on and take off.The sole is excellent. Sturdy but pliable with a good pattern. They will slip on ice but that's true for anything. On most surfaces they provide solid grip and balance.Regarding long-term care, avoid the Frye leathercare product. There are some expensive French products on the market that work great, but the best bang for buck is this beeswax-based butter: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PHV9HXS/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1CL07PD0KL43J&coliid=I1X5GD4MGX8D5K. A little goes a long way and it shouldn't change the color of your leather. Always do a test spot in a less visable area first.

These are BY FAR the most comfortable boots I own.
I am a woman and usually wear a 9M in boots, so ordered a 7M in these men's boots because they were on sale. They are BY FAR the most comfortable boots I own. They fit perfectly. I have four or five Frye's among a dozen or more pairs of good quality boots. I dont know why these are more comfortable than all the women's boots I've bought over the years, but they really are.The charcoal color of the boots I received are identical to the picture of them on Amazon. Also, they really dont look much different (i.e., more masculine) than other similar boots I own.

Fantastic Boot
Love the boot! I wear a men's 7. Amazon recommended a 7.5 and they were dead on. Comfy out of the box and breaking in, they're just getting better. At one hundred thirty four dollars, they were a steal. I ride a cruiser class motorcycle and these are now my go-to riding boots. I'm fairly short too so the heels make it even easier to put both feet on the ground at a stop. The rubber soles grab the ground well. The top of the boot is snug to my calf so it's pants over the boot only, which is what I wanted anyway.Nearly all retail stores only carry men's sizes down to 8 so online purchases are pretty much my only choice. Their loss.

Could not be more satisfied.
Overall an excellent pair of boots and service from both Amazon and the seller. These boots are manufactured in the USA, therefore a chart for converting the foot size is given when specifying the order. I was notified of an approximate delivery date and given tracking details so I could follow the delivery from the USA to my doorstep, my pair arrived a full 3 days ahead of schedule.I naturally have wide feet which usually makes ordering shoes online without trying them before hand risky, however these boots for my given foot length were wide enough. In the event that they were too thin, I was offered to return the boots for free which put my mind at easy during the waiting period for the delivery. The leather has a rugged texture that feels very durable and the soles and heel feel rock solid. I own a pair of Harley Davidson harness boots which have their logo on every rivet and a big metal plaque on the side facing outwards to show everybody that they are HD boots which always bothered me, FRYE's 12r boot only has a single small brand in the leather by the ankle facing inwards which I much prefer. The rivets and rings appear to be brass but are painted with something to give them a weathered appearance. The ring also appears to be forged shut, there is not visible seam that I can see.

Frye Boots - the real deal !
I first came across Frye boots in while on a skiing holiday to Colorado. I drooled over them in the shop - the quality and styling was perfect like nothing I'd seen before ( or since ) Having spent a fortune on the ski trip I reluctantly decided against spending another $200.00 on some new boots. I was delighted to see stumble across the same boots on Amazon at about half the price, it was a no brainer so put the order in straight away. They came very quickly as does everything you order from Amazon and I wasn't disappointed. I'm a boot man, always have been and they don't come better than this. With a pair of Levis and a checked shirt we can all look like John Wayne yee haa !
