Tracks poorly, noisy
It is hard to stand against 190 primarily very positive reviews, but then I followed these reviews to purchase this rather disappointing mouse and need to rebuke them. From positives, the mouse has a good shape and size for a notebook size and uses up its outline for concealing the cord that wraps around the base of the mouse. Also the scroll wheel is fine. The big negative is the lack of responsiveness. The mouse has the worst tracking of the wired notebook mice I tested in parallel, including Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse, Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 and Iogear GME222A Mouse. Notably, given that notebooks are used in a variety of environments, a notebook mouse should have a capability of tracking on a variety of surfaces. The Logitech mouse had difficulty tracking within my standard environment, seemingly because of the dark color of my table. On the surface of a CD, the Logitech mouse was most often unable to start, while Iogear had some difficulty there and Microsoft mice had no difficulty whatsoever. When the dedicated Logitech software is installed, additional lack of responsiveness of computer to the mouse develops, where the computer and cursor repeatedly disregard, in an absolutely infuriating fashion, any movements of the Logitech mouse. The Logitech site advices reinstalling the SetPoint software. The interesting twist to this is that it is impossible to uninstall that software using the standard Windows infrastructure. To accomplish the uninstallation, you need to use the fortunately free Revo Uninstaller. Reinstallation of the SetPoint in a special boot mode for Windows and tweaking of the SetPoint settings can reduce but not eliminate lethargy in the response. Eventually, I uninstalled SetPoint for good, but still repeatedly went to other mice to be able to work and, finally, gave up on this mouse completely. To sum up, I advise to skip this mouse. Myself, I ended up going with the wired Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse 3000, which is a delight by comparison. I did not consider wireless mice, because of my interest in responsiveness. The Iogear mouse has a better tracking than Logitech, but is less convenient to hold in your hand. Overall, I would still choose it over Logitech. Admittedly, there exist still bottom of the barrel no-name mice that have even worse tracking than the Logitech Notebook Mouse Plus.Update: The circumstances of working at different locations have forced me to use the Logitech mouse a bit more and indeed, as some have noted, it is noisy to the point of distracting the user. My experiences give me quite a perspective on the validity of overall customer ratings and this on the site that, in my experience, does not censor the reviews or ratings to skew the outcome.

Everything about this mouse was great - for 6 months
This Logitech Optical Notebook Mouse matches my ideal mouse in every category. It's affordable. It's the right size and weight for my hands - not too small like some notebook mice, but not bulky like many desktop mice I've had either. It felt quick in my hands and sailed over most mouse surfaces with little to no resistance. In fact, I found this mouse extremely good for fast-paced first-person shooter gaming, though admittedly that was only a minor portion of its use to me. I also liked the feel of the scroll-wheel, with just the right grip and rolling speed. And most of all, the mouse was compact and portable, with a convenient roll-up-and-click cord.Being a corded mouse of course has its advantages. No batteries, first of all. Not that batteries are too expensive (I could use rechargeable ones), but the fact is that they can die on you at any time, often when it seems most inconvenient or you may not have a spare set around. And in my personal experience, the other advantage of corded mice over wireless is assurance of signal with no interruption (not that that's a frequent issue with today's wireless mice, but it's worth noting). However! I bought this mouse in late February 2009. It's now mid September and, this mouse is no longer reliable. It's shown some signs of life, but I'm pretty sure I have to replace it. See, with rolling up and unrolling the cord at least 1-2, if not more times per day over the last 6 months, the point where the cord stops rolling around the base of the mouse and turns to latch onto the bottom of the mouse got repeatedly bent and twisted in every direction, and the wiring just hasn't held up - it won't transfer signal anymore, rendering this mouse useless. It's a shame, that the way this device is meant to be packed up and put away ended up leading to its demise.I am sure I got $14's use and more out of this mouse, but I frankly didn't expect it to die so soon. I still have faith in Logitech's products, but I will not buy another of this same model. Maybe if they made an identical one but wireless...

Fabulous Little Mouse
My husband bought me a wonderful Netbook for Christmas - which I just love love love. However I am a long time desktop system user and long ago decided that track pads and me have no place together in the same room. My head says "I know how to do this" but my fingers apparently are not on the same page, leaving me to battle through page after page of unintended opened pages or links, before getting to the pages I wanted to view.So after debating how best to solve this dilemma I starting sifting through products and reviews and stumbled on this one and now that I have it for several days I can say I am so pleased I did.It is a small mouse - so anyone that thinks that a less than full size mouse would not work for them this may not be the mouse for you. And I have to say that I agree with other reviewers - one in particular comes to mind - that the length of the cord could be a real issue for someone with a fuller sized laptop. Another thing I noticed - which was not an issue for me but may be for other users - the wheel is a little stiff - especially when I compare it to my desktop mouse. This is definitely not a "gaming" mouse. This is though a perfect mouse for a netbook. And I loved the fact that I literally plugged it in and I was "mousing" away. I can see that the wrap away wire feature will also be a plus since I do intend to take my netbook out with me, so not having a floating free cord is nothing but good and well thought out by the designer. I can now only hope that it is durable, which only time will tell. Now off to shop for a netbook case and I should be set.
