Map Ruler for Measuring LAT/Lon, Miles, and Kilometers at a Single map Scale

As a long-time aviation navigator and quadrangle user, I have to say this is a wonderful device and a great value. Previously I used an old multi-scale device called Topo Companion that was plenty confusing. This one-scale ruler is a joy to use. I am using it to transfer GPS coordinates onto paper quad maps. The first use on three locations got me within a stone's throw of where I was on the ground. I recommend you pick an easily visible location on the map, get the GPS figures on the ground and go back with the Map Ruler to the quad for practice. I am using quad maps for research on historical and geological YouTube videos on my channel Malcolm Marzo. The Maptools ruler also includes a package of other tools and useful information for map users. What a value for map geeks!

Great ruler for lat long maps, saves time having to mark out your own from the legend. All the extras the seller includes are excellent. The guides, worksheets and personalized magnetic declination card, printed on write in the rain paper, are phenomenal.

I must say I am overly impressed with the amount of personal attention I was given. I recieved not only exactly what I ordered in a timely fashion, but I also recieved an information sheet on write the rain paper, with declination settings, and instructions for my area. I also received information on working with grids, UTM, MGRS, and USNG, which is absolutely awesome as I have been studying this for a while now. I will keep all this as reference material in my map book. They have a website for those who are interest in some great reference material as well, maptools.com. I can't recommend these folks enough. The UTM grid in particular is much better than the one I've been using. I really only need 1:24000 scale, so this one is perfect. There were also some unexpected docs about declination (specific to my lat/long), UTM (with quizzes!), and ruler usage. Very nice.

I have to admit I was pretty disappointed. Although the measurements are accurate and fine for OS maps, this is a very flimsy ruler and easily bent. I was hoping for a 30 cm ruler but this is approximately 10 cm long - a lot smaller than the impression given in the picture. Certainly not worth £8.99.
