A couple of shakes and the waste ash is removed. This has made grill preparation much easier. I’ve used it several months and can tell it’s a long term quality product. Highly recommend this for BGE owners.

Make cleanup and use of ceramic cooker so much easier. A few days after a cook, place it in a plastic bag, twist shut and shake. Then remove from bag and place back inside cooker. This removes all the ash buildup in the coals and keeps most from building up in the bottom of cooker.

The basket replaces the crappy stock fire grate. Honestly, Green Eggs should all ship with this product included.Significantly improved air flow means coals light faster and burn more efficiently. I don’t have to wait nearly as long for the Egg to come up to temperature and the smoke to clean up.An additional benefit is better circulation of ash. It drops down to the bottom when the coals are out, and you want to separate reusable charcoal. Just give the basket a shake to get rid of ashes and charcoal “crumbs”.I haven’t had the basket long enough to see how it stands up to repeated high-temperature use. If I find that it rusts out and needs to be replaced in a few months, I will have to emend my remarks. However, I hear that they are good for a couple of years, which isn’t bad for something you pack full of blazing charcoal three times a week!

OK I've waited a month or so before I submitted this review. I was gonna give the Kick Ash basket 5 starts, and I rarely give 5 stars, so I let the honeymoon be over, now that I'm used to it. Well as you can see, I'm still giving the Original Kiss Ash Basket 5 stars. It is a perfect must have accessory for your Big Green Egg, Kamodo Joe, Primo or any other ceramic they make one to fit. Mine fits perfectly in my large BGE. I removed the bottom cast iron coal grate and the airflow I get greatly improves my coal startup times and overall temp control. No holes to get clogged up with ash. Actually its not so much ash, as its's little bits of charcoal that restrict the holes. With the kick ash they don't. I simply fill up that Kick Ash basket and seems to be just the right amount of lump charcoal. It may be my imagination, or just the quality of the awesome FOGO charcoal I use, but I swear the Kick Ash makes my lump charcoal last longer. Once completely cool (next DAY for my Big Green Egg), take out the basket shake it over your garden or stone drive way and your good for the next cook. You'l be amazed at the small amount of ash, since the combustion process is so much more efficient with the basket. I think you will like this. VERY well crafted piece and good looking piece of stainless steel with quality stainless steel welds. Clearly a high quality with attention to detail. IMHO a must have accessory.

It makes it easier to clean my BGE, just lift it out and clean out the bottom

This is a great upgrade to the BGE. Be prepared that when you receive this and go to start using it the first step is cleaning your BGE. A task that in the past I should have done on a more regular basis! Once you clean out your egg and remove the iron lower plate that was the bottom you're ready to go! Air flow and ease of future ash clean outs is what you notice immediately. I've been using this for a couple of months now and I highly recommend it, it really does improve overall operation.

Prior to getting the Kick Ash Basket, I was battling temperature control due to small pieces of lump clogging up the ceramic insert included with the egg. I am now in heaven, I can easily get super hot temperatures for searing, and cleaning up the ash after every cook is super easy. You can always keep your original BGE ceramic part and use it only for low and slow smokes.

Really nice. Wish I had found this 3 1/2 years ago when I got my BGE!. Air flow is better than ever since I use it with the cast iron pot instead of the flat iron grate with all the holes. Makes it so much easier to clean up and get ready for the next cook! Would definitely recommend this.

BGE burns hotter faster then before, spent ash easy to clean up.

The Kick Ash Basket makes it easier to manage Charcoal and residual ash. Equally important it provides better air flow, allowing for quicker lighting and temperatures management.
