The Definitive Review
Received this item within 3 days of ordering, it appears it came via France so all good so far. First impression upon opening the box was a well made item that looked fit for purpose and great value for money, though mine did not come with the green and yellow wires. Looked at the instructions and was disappointed to find poorly written ChineseEnglish... so after 3 hours of head scratching, copious amounts of coffee and cigarettes I finally got there.Installing the item is straightforward. Insert a full size SIM card then find a permanent live feed and once connected hide the unit away from metal preferably under the dashboard facing upwards. Once connected the lights will illuminate to inform you of power, GPS fix and connection to a mobile phone signal. After about 5 minutes the lights go out but it still functions. To check if you have the unit working correctly with the correct location text your tracker with the command url#, a reply text will give you a link to Google maps to display your trackers location. All nice and easy, i found this uses 2 text credits from your balance. An alternative to use 1 text credit is to phone your tracker's mobile number and it will text you back with its location. But first you need to tell the tracker the number of your mobile, up to 3 numbers can control this function. In the user manual this is:9.User Settings 1) Center So you will text admin#1#yourmobilenumber# and a reply text will confirm.Another option is to track your vehicle in real time. I have found a website called trackme.lk to be suitable for my needs and so far it has been free of any subscription. In section 2)APN of the manual we need to let the tracker know the internet settings of the SIM card. If you go down the GiffGaff route you will need to text the unit apn#giffgaff.com#giffgafff# or Asda mobile, both appear to be the better choice as they have a pay as you go option which should last about 7 months with a £10 top-up.So for Asda mobile text this to the tracker apn#everywhere#eesecure#secure# in either case you will receive a text back as confirmation. If you decide to use trackme.lk as your preferred option section 3)IP/PORT will configure your tracker to the website.Text this to your tracker ip#128.199.174.173#5002# you will receive a confirmation text back if all is good.Section 4)GMT refers to the time displayed in your texts of the trackers location. The time is set to Beijing time but here in the UK we are 8 hours behind so you will need to text #timezone#E0# again you will receive back a confirmation message.Section 5)TIME refers to how often your unit will ping trackme.lk with its new location. The default is 15 seconds, obviously the quicker it pings the more data it will use. If, for example, you want it to ping once every minute text upload#60# if ok a confirmation text will be received. I have found 1 ping every 10 seconds will use about 1MB of data per day. With regards to the setup of the trackme.lk website this can be a little frustrating. Luckily I made a note of this and it is as follows:once you have registered click on the ADD button in the top left hand corner. This will bring up a box for you to input your units information. For NAME this can be the model and make of your vehicle.UNIQUE IDENTIFIER: your SIM will have its own unique IMEI number. Take the last 11 digits and precede this with a 0 (zero). Input this 12 digit number here.PHONE NUMBER: the mobile phone number of your SIM card. That is pretty much it, there are other options to play with like geofence but this should get you up and running.Hope it helps :)

Great product, hopeless instructions
This is a cheap way of tracking your car, motorcycle or scooter.1. Throw the hopeless instructions in the bin and look at reviews and questions on here. Much better.2. Buy a sim card. I went for the Gif Gaf one Amazon offer for 99p. It works a treat. You will need to top up the first time but you get a free £5.3. Activate your Sim Card using a mobile phone. You may also have to create an online account depending on the provider.4. Store this new number in your main personal phone5. Once your sim card is active fit to the tracker. It will just open using your nails as the screws come separate.6. Test the tracker it on the battery of your car/bike first BEFORE you fit it. it will take a minute to power up and then all the lights will flash on the front of the box.7. To test send a text to the tracker number- smslink1234568. In a few seconds you will get a google map link back. Click on link and location of bike/car is revealed.9. Read some reviews about setting time. It’s a bit hit and miss. What worked for me was- Time zone 123456 0 you will get a "time zone OK" text back. Even though it wasn’t!10. Once you are happy with it it’s time to fit it to your car or bike.11. fitting takes a little bit of knowledge (what is a positive cable and what is a negative cable) and I would conceal wires when fitting. There is a really good video on you tube fitting to car but same principals apply to a bike12. You can fit direct to the battery and is a small drain but nothing to worry about and charging all the time or like me fit the wires within the terminals. If you do this the tracker will charge when you run the bike. If you use regularly this won’t be a problem. The tracker is tucked away somewhere concealed.13. It’s an excellent bit of kit. I only wish I fitted it to the bike that I had stolen, hindsight is a wonderful thing. I hope I never have to use it to find my bike but it does provide me with a bit of peace of mind... Along with a big lock.

Cheap, easy tracking option.
UPDATE:After working well for 6 months the tracker failed - no lights, no response to calls or texts. The service from the supplier was excellent. After running through some recommended checks (I had already done these checks but repeated them to be sure) the supplier offered to replace with no charge. It's disappointing that the original unit failed but I can't fault the after sales service.I bought this tracker for my ageing motorhome and was pleasantly surprised by it's quality and accuracy. You will need a constant DC supply (12-36v) and a location which is not screened by metal vehicle bodywork - quite easy in a motorhome with a GRP body. Power consumption seems to be minimal so since I have a solar panel on the van I connected it to the leisure battery.I used a GiffGaff PAYG sim which works well but because the tracker uses SMS in the basic location mode, at 10p per message this can get through credit quite quickly. Perhaps 1p Mobile might be a better option. It is possible to use an app or website which will allow tracking, access being free for the first 12 months then $5 US for a further 10 years.I've found accuracy to be within 5 metres and often better which is fine if you're looking for a big white box on wheels! I would not expose the unit to the elements because it doesn't appear to be fully waterproof but in my case this was not a problem. The instructions need to be interpreted from Chinese English and some of the SMS commands could be better explained but there is plenty on the internet for this generic GPS tracker. The supplier also emailed supplementary information a day after delivery which would have been useful if I hadn't already set the unit up!In conclusion, I was favourably impressed by this little unit and the only thing I cannot yet comment on is it's durability ... time will tell.

Great value, great tracker
I installed on my 2017 Honda cb500x. It works as advertised. The app is just okay but it tracks my motorcycle. The hardest part was trying to get the device to communicate when first installed. The instructions are a bit difficult to understand but I was able to finally get it to communicate. As per previous reviews, once it is disconnected from its power source, it is unable to track.

Love it! Works as expected
Love it! Works as expected. Might help to include in the posting that it's compatible with older GSM frequencies. For Canada use, go with cellular service provided by Petro Canada (Rogers). Bell or Wind is not supported.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY...!
I'm a verified purchaser of this here and believe me when I say DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY...!Installed it OK, it worked one time, then it died and never worked again. Get the TrackmateGPS Mini 3G H Real Time Hard Wired GPS Tracker for $49.99 Prime here, it works on their web site when you log in, just go to your account and click the little arrow on your device list and it opens a clear map with address point every time for $16/ month. Cost more but reliable, not like this $18 piece of garbage. Now I gotta figure out how to get the sim card account canceled.

cheap
This is not weather sealed and is restrictive to where it can be placed as it states that it can't be installed under any metal therefore can't be placed under a hood etc.. I also had to purchase and active a cell SIM card to use it.I wound up returning it and paid a little more for a better sealed unit here on Amazon that can be placed anywhere in the car without restrictions or signal interference. I do have to pay them $12 a month to keep it activated but it's cheaper than the SIM card was costing me.
