York Obelisk 2.2m

Extremely impressed by Crowders quick dispatch and delivery of my great York obelisks. I had bought one and liked it so much bought two more. They all arrived well packaged and everything needed was in the box (also spare screw and sleeve in each box). There was clear instructions how to put up the obelisks....I had the help of my husband to erect the first one but easily managed to make the last two on my own. Everything fits together well provided you ensure the poles are turned the right way to allow easy insertion of screws! (made that mistake a couple of times!) The joint protection sleeves benefit from being held in the hand to warm them and make easier to put on. The finished product once made is great....they are solid, attractive and easy to carry not being too heavy (I, a mere woman and an OAP managed easily)....they are long though so watch where you going! All three obelisks are now in situ and look fantastic. So thrilled with them.

Just what I needed. Exactly as described and seems very sturdy. Time will tell how durable they are but looks good. Would advise wiring through the holes in the rings before moving them to their final site as this makes them much easier to fix in the ground.

It was quite a fiddle to put together and extremely hard to get the legs and rings lined up. With my best efforts it ended up slightly cockeyed, which is annoying in a formal garden. Plastic sleeves are supplied which the instructions say are intended to fit into the joints to hold them firmly, but in fact they are too large--larger even than the poles--and do not tuck into the joints. But it is a good height and, once put together and in the ground, seems to be stable. I've had better luck with different styles.

Purchased 4 of these frames. They are very well made and for the most part sturdy. I wasn't very impressed with the fixings supplied as some of the screws threaded the pre drilled hole and made the frames feel loose. In the end I ended up buying a pack of M6 40mm nuts and bolts, drilled through the frame completely and securing them. it made the frames very sturdy.

I ordered this item and it wouldn’t fit together as the screws were too short to go into the holes ,I contacted the seller who apologised and sent a new pack of screws which were unfortunately the same size so now I have a pile of metal in my garden that is scrap as I can’t erect it so I’ve wasted my money.

This is the third obelisk that I have bought. Extremely easy to put together and stable in the ground. I am growing roses up each of them and they look good. They retain their looks throughout the seasons and are a popular perch for birds.

Stability about a vertical axis is very poor. It twists a bit like a corkscrew.The screws attaching to the rings do not engage well and come loose very easily.It needs a bracket on each leg so that you can press it down into the ground with your foot. Our soil is heavy clay and I found it almost impossible to apply enough force to press it down.

The obelisk arrived on time and was easy to assemble. Very sturdy and attractive. An asset to our garden
