Good value for making the most of limited case real-estate
This bay adapter is an excellent way to make the maximum use your available space in small form-factor cases where that space is at a premium. While this item is not fancy looking, it is sturdy, very reasonably priced, and even includes an adapter for the slim optical drive to let you use a standard SATA data connector and a 3.5" floppy-style molex power connector. If your power supply doesn't have those connectors, they include an adapter/splitter pigtail that you can attach to a standard molex plug with the floppy power connector and another full size molex connector on the other end. They also include all the screws you'll need to mount a slim optical drive, a 3.5" device in the bay adapter under the optical drive bay, and for the 5.25" bay adapter itself. Lastly there is a small compartment to the right of the 3.5" bay that can be used to install something like an IR sensor, custom switch, control, indicator or any type of port that you need accessible from the front of the case.Other Considerations:It pays to be very careful when detaching the plastic punch-out that covers the 3.5" part of the bay adapter. If you're mounting something like a card reader or USB hub in the bottom bay that needs front accessibility, this panel will need to be removed. However, the plastic trim on the bottom of the bay adapter is VERY thin, so the best way to remove the punch-out panel without damaging the frame is to use a razor or sharp knife to gently trim away the tabs that hold it in place. Twisting it out by hand would likely damage the bottom edge trim.

Disappointing product & poorly shipped. It does not work with Mac Pro Towers.
This is one of only a few such products I could find, which are supposed to allow the installation of a SLIM (not Ultra Slim) ODD into a 5.25" internal bay. It came with room for an additional drive below, which I first thought of as a bonus, but which was not as it causes some of the concern.First the shipping fiasco. Believe the negative reviews. You will get this item merely stuck in a zip lock plastic bag, shoved into a soft, thin padded mailing envelope. Mine get horribly beat up and bent on the way to me, and it was dented in at the top and at the bottom and a little on the sides, as this is fairly thin metal. I cut myself on the thin, sharp metal and the jagged sharp plasticy bits trying to wrench it back into place. So for the shipping fail alone it would warrant 1 star.Drive spacing issues. Then there was the problem with the product itself. The ODD slot is too high, likely because of the way it is manufactured with the protruding welds and such. Not sure. But when the Slim ODD was installed it was so high up in the adapted that it would not eject from my Mac Pro when installed, which is why I say you should not buy it for a Mac Pro tower. I tried several configurations between the two 5.25" slots and the thing is just not compatible with the Mac Pro tower, period. Now this is not just a Mac issue tho, but I believe it is also a general issue. If they had just lowered the mounting for the odd about 2 mm it would have been fine, but nope. There appears to be room, but they wanted the ODD right at the tippy top and thus the thing is too close to the top. Frankly even in a PC you might have some issues with spacing a DVD/CD/BR disc given how high it on on the bay. Again, this alone for me would rate a 1 star.So you know what model I am referring to, I have an older "cheese-grater" Mac Pro - the 1,1 through 5,1 style tower. So it's basically a paperweight for me now. Because of the corona virus I will likely not return it as it is not worth the risk. Overall just very a disappointing purchase.

Fit like a Glove
I had originally purchased a sata slim blue ray burner for my Dell Insprion E1705 only to realize that even though my notebook supported a sata hd it didn't support a sata slim drive, it was micro ata, so I purchased a housing for it. I just build a new desktop and after reading all the positive reviews I took the plunge.Everything I needed was there to mount the slimdrive and convert the micro-sata to normal sata with 2 mini screws to hold that board in place. Powered by a small old style power supply cable like used to be used for floppy drives, it also came with a y-cable for it. I did need to find a magnetized screw drive because of the small screws but it was pretty much plug and play. There is room for a 3 1/2 device with i will add an all in one, and a smaller port someone mentioned in a review they found an ir receiver but I wished they'd added a link for it so I could make use of it.All in All I'm Very Happy and would recommend to a friend.

What I expected
Cheap way to pack components into a 5.25 bay. Slim optical drives are cheap these days. Plus you can mount a two-bay 2.5" HDD trayless adapter in the bottom of this unit at the same time. Funny how no one has documented the fact that there's actually a way to mount something on the right side, next to the 3.5 bay: two screw holes, mounted about an inch apart on the front of the metal frame, the metal and plastic plates between them can be clipped right out. Probably useful if you wanted to mount your own esata/usb/whatever port on the front of this thing (though you'd probably be making your own cable/mount/etc). Only downside is that there's no easy way to mount a fan on the back of this thing (unless you want to glue one on -- make sure your cables have room).

Cheaply built but does the job
Comes with everything you need except a cover for the optical bay. I bought this for my HP N40L Microserver with the thought that I would use the HDD bay and get an optical later as it was not very necessary for me at this point. I figured/assumed (which is always a mistake) this came with a cover for the slim opt bay but I was wrong and now I am forced to get a slim opt burner sooner than later. Also Amazon's packaging for this was less than satisfactory. They seem to think that just cause you can cram a bunch of small items together in one small box that you should. As a result this item came slightly bent. In fairness the manufactures packaging is a sandwhich bag basically so that does not help matters.
