ION Audio All-Star Guitar Controller for iPad/iPod/iPhone

Wow great fun and great for students learning guitar.If you have an old style Ipad 1 or 2 with the big connection slot on the bottomt this is great fun for teaching guitar , it has all the chords built in and the frets light up to show you were to put your fingers , you strum the strings using the Ipad/Iphone 4 which sits in the bottom, and you can connect it up to a Bluetooth speaker or Amp. You can download songs (the real songs) and it lights up and teaches you the chords but you have to pay about £1.50 a song !It is a bit steep at £46 , I got it for £20 a year ago but I think they brought out a new version for the IPhone 5 ,6 and Ipad Air with the wee conection on the bottom which costs £200 so this is probably worth it

bought as a gift for Christmas arrived on time no problem.the all star app 10 free song bundle does not exist there is no songs to download i uninstalled this app re-installed it many times signed up to karoakecloud oh it says i have 1 bundle but there is no way to download songs as no song list appears. because it only works with iPhone or iPad also had to purchase these items at further cost.really dissapointed with this product going to try contacting ion costumer support about this see if they can resolve issue with song downloads. for an app that is for this product it is not a straight forward process to get signed up etc. ion needs to rectify this issue with regards to free song download bundle only song which seems to be the only song you can get is smoke on the water as it comes with the app no other songs i have searched the web and found i am not the only person to have this issue there are many others with the same problem,would certainly not recommend this product should have waited and bought the fusion all in 1 guitar from fusion.com

I paid under £12 for this, so cant really complain. As an experienced guitarist its not really that good, but as a teaching aid for beginers it has merit. Unless I've missed it, one big drawback is you cant play an open string on the neck. I'm probably going to use it as a simple travel guitar becuase the neck comes off so will pack down to fit a case. Overall its more of a bit of fun than a serious instrument.

This is a fun tool to use and while this isn't a replacement for a guitar, it is quite useful for learning chords and finger positioning. I don't agree with the 1 star reviews at all. It deserves more than that. Maybe these reviewers were expecting something else, but based on the description of the item, what I got seemed to me to be excellent value and I think it is really important to remember that this device is only limited really by the app. At the moment a few of the app features are nonsense and really let it down, but overall it does a pretty good job it just needs more development and it could really expand its capabilities and educational value.I also don't totally agree with the idea of it being exclusively labelled as a toy. It does takes some experimentation and playing with the settings to get it to play in a fluid way, but once you get used to it the thing is a lot of fun to play.When it comes to the IOS device I found the iPad to be infinitely better to use than the iPhone for functionality and in fact I thought the iPhone version was really limited with no good reason that I could understand. The features in the iPad version for the most part could have been replicated with a little thought in my view. It was a shame that the differences were so stark because the adaption for using the iPhone fits together really well and the iPhone itself in many ways seemed a better size to use with the device. The iPad has lots of potential for accidentally brushing your palm against the screen which wouldn't be an issue with the iPhone. Maybe more development of the iPhone app will take place in the near future.When it comes to using it with other apps it seemed to work okay and on this point I do agree with the review dated 1 Oct 2012 in that some apps are better functionally than others, but it does work. It was interesting seeing it work with other apps and maybe other developers could maybe look at this device with a view to adapting their apps to use it if that's possible, but I found after a short period of playing about with garageband and others that I wanted to go back to the app designed for the device.Overall then it's great value for money, seems well enough made, easy to put together and the app is adequate but you need to give it a bit of time to get used to. iPad is more functional than the iPhone but fI think the iPhone is a better size to use with it. While I understand why some call it a toy, I think that isn't totally fair as it does have value as an educational tool for learning chords and finger positions..

You are supposed to get some free tunes to start with but I was never able to download them because my code wasn't accepted.This is really difficult to set up due to poor guidance notes. It doesn't resemble playing a guitar in any realistic way, it really is just a toy.Thinking of buying one, if I'd known what it was like I wouldn't have bought it.

at a bargain price, whats not to like, brilliant piece of kit!

I challenge you to find more fun for £10.99! it can teach you chords but it's a toy not an instrument. it looks cool as heck though.The free music tracks are impossible to get and the selection is non-existent, don't factor that into your purchase decision it'll infuriate you. Throw the free music coupon in the bin and enjoy the guitar.

cet appareil possède uniquement un ancien connecteur APPLE, si on met une prolongation pour passer en lightenight l'IPAD ne loge plus dans son emplacement et de plus ne fonctionne pas avec du matériel non APPLE. J'ai commandé un cable pour passer de l'ancien format de sortie au nouveau. Pour l'instant cet engin ne sert strictement à rien.

Unlike the fender mustang guitar hero/rock band midi capable controller, this controller actually allows you to tap, so you can do two hand tapping techniques with this. I use Music Studio, Garageband, SampleWiz etc to create great synth tracks with this. You can send MIDI via WiFi into your laptop. This also allows you to use the 3.5mm headphone jack at the same time so you can jam with the built in speakers OR headphones OR output to an amplifier source.I wish this controller included a headphone extension cable, if you buy this controller you will need one sooner or later. Without it the headphones are too short (for your normal general earbuds etc). I paid $65 for mine and even at that price it was worth it. For the new lower prices this controller is a steal.It works with waaaaaay more apps than the cheesy guitar app it comes with (I dont even use that junk) and it is a blast.The only other "problem" with this controller (other than it is a bit plasticy feeling) is it is very hard to find a suitable carrying case, although it does allow you to detach the head-stock and neck. I have 2 of these so I can hack up one of them and customize it. I am looking into re-painting and maybe even sticking the guts into a wooden body and at this price you can afford to experiment! I have a Yamaha EZ-AG, a Yourock limited edition II and a keytar controller and this is still my favorite guitar MIDI synth controller. It is so convenient to just pick it up and jam (I leave an old junky iPhone in mine 24/7 so its good to go) and its great fun. Check out youtube for the numerous videos. There is also a guy who made a custom app for this, and hopefully he will release it soon.
