I use this for my dog's silicone water bowl on long walks. This is a nice, sturdy, retractable reel. I bought it because I kept wearing out the regular coated filament reels. The chain is shorter than the filament kind so I have to bend a little (5'9") so she can drink, and boy howdy don't let that thing snap back 'cuz she doesn't like that at all, but it works great.

I’ve been using the model with a metal chain daily for work, and it still works as smoothly as the day I got it. Extendable keychains with cables I’ve gotten before have frayed and become jagged messes, but this one feels smooth, looks nice, and is my go-to. It’s so rock-solid that I gifted one to my brother, and I’m still buying another pair for when these finally give up the ghost in fifteen years 😂There are two things to keep in mind before buying. The chain is a bit short. Mine gets about 15” of chain outside the spool. If you need to very frequently unlock things that are over a foot above waist level, then you may want to find a longer one. If this is a more rare occasion, like it is for me, it’s perfect. You can just unclip the chain and you’re good. The second consideration is that the chain is not truly ambidextrous. Because of the orientation it’s spooled inside the reel, it will catch against the edge of the exit hole if clipped to the left side of your belt. So if you absolutely need to have the chain clipped to your left side, it won’t work right. The right side is great for me, so I don’t have a problem, but keep it in mind before buying!None of this takes away from the fact that this is the best keychain I’ve found. I would recommend it for almost anyone.

Durable, use it daily so far it’s great. Only problem I have is it’s just a few inches too short for my ID to scan in certain areas. But it’s easy to unclip and reclip. Pretty great, gave the second one to a coworker and they love it. Metal construction definitely helps here.

Endured quite a lot of physical labor/ movement, and constant fully extending the chain. Pretty finish, and sturdy chain mechanism. Did not fall off of belt loops whatsoever. Feels expensive, and heavy satisfying to pull

The retractable key ring is solid. I would not buy a vinyl cord and so this was a good option. The circular portion where the chain retracts is smaller than other models I have used in the past but I think it could be better.

now i'm going to preface this with the use was more than they were probably rated for.I work in a super center stocking freight. I got these for my box-cutter (light weight and mostly plastic) so i wouldn't be loosing the thing all the time. but both broke after 2-3 weeks of use with the steel cable pulling free from the metal cap that attaches to the key ring loop and id badge clip.will be looking for a heavier one in the future.

This retractable key chain has a linked chain as opposed to the wire. I use this to attach my cane so I can let go and be hands free in stores. I also have a poor grip since I got nerve damage throughout my entire body from a flu shot in 2005. This retractable key chain keeps my heavy cane (not really heavy, but heavier than a key) right by my side when I let go of it. Hard to find these with a real linked chain anymore. Not sure why. Highly recommend this product. Seller shipped rather quickly as well.

These are super heavy duty. I broke 3 or 4 normal plastic ones over the course of the year. I think I found one that will fo ally last now. My only co.plaint is its a bit large and not the best looking.
