Difficulty getting to battery slots
Have to get to the batteries using a small screwdriver, there’s wires exposed on the inside so if you’re trying to change batteries in a rush or in a poorly lit area. It would be easy to break it or shock yourself.Would recommend spending abit more money and getting a different model which is easier to get to batteries and function :)

Do NOT unscrew the 'tiny screws
I've seen a lot of people are here complaining about having to unscrew the tiny screws to get into the battery case. You don't (and shouldn't). The back of the headtorch (with the pad that goes against your forehead) just pops off. It is a tight fit, so you'll need to get your fingernails under it but it DOES just pop off and gives you access to the battery compartment.

Cheerful and does the job
Works as well as can be expected. Other reviewers talk about undoing tiny screws which I see but you can actually take off the cover which is closest to the head to reveal the battery compartment.

Battery replacement means 4 screws.
The battery replacement - 4 small screws where inner wires exposed and connectors not even fixed. This is a huge design flaw. Should not have reached market as is utter rubbish. Better off spending more with a well respected make.Perhaps OK for dog walks, but any serious walking could be dangerous as no easy way to change batteries.

Good value and features
It's OK for the money. Three straps would be better than two but more complicated to navigate if the person is clumsy. The lights are really bright and having a separate red light setting for night time so as not to wake othr people up is a great idea.I remember when a decent-ish head torch cost £35 which would be £50 in today's money. Buy two. Recommended.

Cannot replace batteries whilst camping
We bought one of these and like the other reviews, this has a serious design fault. I was using this as a Leader on a camp when the torch batteries ran out. No problem, I had spare batteries. Was surprised it needed a small screwdriver to access the batteries, but when I opened it up there were loose wires, so I assumed it must be recharagable. No problem, I had a powerbank. So reassembled it to look for a recharge connector. Althought the battery life on this was pretty impressive, this torch is impractical for the use it is designed for.

Stone-age approach to power
I agree with Bookworm. Why 4 tine screws to get the batteries in? Doing this exposes the 2 wires which look very fragile and unless you put these back exactly the lid wont close tight enough and you risk crimping the wires. Quite bright though

Poor design makes this impractical for camping
Utter rubbish. What a dreadful design. Bought this for daughter’s Duke of Edinburgh expedition. It takes 3 AAA batteries. So far so good. BUT to put the batteries in, you have to unscrew 4 TINY and fiddly screws. The sort of tiny screws you’d find in a computer or something. You’ll need a jewellers screwdriver or similar. I had a suitable size screwdriver I bought for working inside my laptop. So not something everyone has just lying around. When you do get the battery compartment open, you see the wires connecting to the bulbs are so fragile the connection will break very easily - such as opening to replace the batteries several times. Honestly what idiot thought it would be good to design a torch for hiking and camping that needed a tiny screwdriver to replace the batteries instead of an easy snap catch? Imagine if you had to do it in the dark because - I don’t know - you were CAMPING or something! Of course there is no indication on the packaging that the simple task of inserting batteries requires the dexterity of a nimble fingered pixie with a tiny screwdriver. Oh no, you only find that out after you wrestle the packaging open. Let’s hope the batteries last for the whole expedition. When it’s over, this is going in the bin. More plastic to pollute the planet. Sorry.
