Do they wipe off easily or do they smear the whiteboard?

They wipe of easily I have found. But I suspect that would depend more on the quality of board than the pens in some cases. But to answer your question, they have always been top notch for me.

Are they worth all that money?

Hi Anne,I bought mine in feb 2011 and they still work faultlessly so I'd say so. Obviously keeping lids on etc. but I use them every other day and they are still going strong.
