Mio MiVue 618 Full 1080P HD 2.7 " LCD GPS Car Dash Cam Camera, Accident Recorder

I spent hours looking at dash cams after the one I was bought by my husband for my birthday stopped working after its first outing. In the end we paid a bit more money and settled for this one. It is of good quality and feels much more sturdier than the one which broke. It is easy to set up, literally take it out of the box and plug into cigarette lighter and away you go. However, the standard settings are pretty minimalist, not even recording in HD, so if you want to use all the features of the camera you will need to go into the settings and (gulp) read the instruction manual. The instructions are basic but then when you get into the settings it is actually fairly easy to set up. I made the mistake of setting the g-shock sensor to "high" meaning that every time I touched the thing an alarm went off and locked the recording. Very frustrating but eventually I was able to touch it lightly enough to get back into the settings and change it back!The main downside for me was that it doesn't come with a usb cable. It takes mini usb, not the more popular micro usb, and with my first purchase rather than buying a cigarette adapter with several holes to accept the cigarette lighter lead, I purchased a double usb socket which goes into the cigarette lighter then you can plug two usb leads into it to charge. I find this is better than having a big cigarette lighter adapter but requires items to come with a usb lead! At £99, I really would expect Mio or the seller to send a usb cable especially when it's using old usb cables.The only other downside is that the suction mount is a bit small which means you can't really stick it to the windscreen down near the dashboard because of the angle that it is at it would need to be positioned in the field of view. I've got mine down as far as it can go but it means that some of the dashboard is on the recording. This is ok as I have a 4x4 but for a smaller car or a car where the bonnet is a bit more domed it might be an issue. It does seem the device is designed to sit behind the rearview mirror but that means that you need to think about where to run the wires.Other than that, the camera works exactly as the description, recording footage has been very clear and speed camera alerts are a great feature.

Great video quality!Mount is great and very stable!Getting/picking the GPS signal it is not the best.Internal battery is useless.Also Speed it is not accurate sometimes.In overall it's 3.5 of 5.

This dashcam seems well made. It comes with a suitably long lead, to allow routing around the windscreen and dash, together with a small but sturdy suction mount. You will need to buy both a micro sd card and a usb to mini usb cable - annoying it is not a micro usb connection, which is far more common.Picture quality is excellent and the safety camera alerts are useful, albeit a bit out of date. Lack of adequate instructions meant it took me longer than it should to get set up!

nice, solid, does not move in auto motion, clear image and playback, took a while to figure out how to do upgrades.

I would probably give this 5 stars if it was reliable - i returned the first one I received as it stopped working after a few days. The 2nd unit lasted a couple of weeks before also dying.I bought this to upgrade a previous Mio camera that has been extremely reliable and I am now using again, but for whatever reason this newer version is faulty - not sure if there is some design fault or maybe there was just a bad batch.

Pleased with dash cam reason for purchase was for the safety cam alerts, but disappointed that mobile cams are not included, otherwise good product resolution on play back is also good

Absolute rubbish. Mio say they have no issues with the speaker but I have had the same speaker fault (no audio output) 3 times, each time sent back to mio for repair which would last approx 3 weeks. Have now requested a refund.

Very disappointed that camera is connected to mount so you can't easily remove. When moving the camera on the mount it feels as if it is going to snap off.I bought this model rather that a slightly cheaper model because it has a speed camera alert as am going on a motoring holiday - there is a set of average speed cameras but the warning is much too late to be of use - even after adjusting the distance that the alert sounts
