Philips Series 3000 electric razor
Early days as I only purchased this razor on 2/6/18 so I cannot comment on reliability.First off though, and something I think some reviewers do forget, shaving is a personal experience and no two individuals will achieve exactly the same results, so whilst one reviewer may think this razor is the bees knees, others may have an entirely different experience and perspective. Also, skin needs time to adapt to dry shaving and so if someone is new to using an electric shaver, their skin most definitely will not be used to the experience. I've been electric dry shaving for 30 years, so I feel I have at least a few years experience on which to comment.I bought this Series 3000 razor primarily to replace my now old but still functional Philishave 8894 model which I bought about 15 years ago. That model unlike the 3000 series, does have a LED display showing minutes remaining and it is something I will miss on this new model, but some of the numbers on my old 8894 are now not showing correctly. The other reason I bought this new 3000 series razor, is because new shaving heads for the old 8894 are very expensive at between £30 and £45 for genuine Philips heads and the price of this new razor, which incidently is selling on Amazon for half the cost of other retailers, seemed the best option for me.First thing that struck me comparing this new model against my old 8894, is the weight. There is an almost 30 grams difference and I can feel this in the hand. Yes I agree, the materials used in the series 3000 model do feel cheaper than my old 8894, but I guess this is what happens with progress and the internal battery is probably much lighter than my old model. This 3000 model is also slightly larger than my old 8894, not much in it, but it is. I do like the head cutter cover on the 3000 model, it is much better fitting than the sloppy fitting cover on my old razor. So charging. Well I've read some other reviews from customers complaining that the razor doesn't come with a UK three pin plug hanging off of it. I haven't owned a Philips shaver yet that hasn't come with a pre-fitted two pin plug. If like me you live in a fairly modern house that has a 100/230 volt shaver socket pre-installed in the bathroom, then this isn't even an issue. Like others have said, if you don't have any other option, you have to purchase a separate UK shaver adapter socket and they're cheap enough to buy. Anyway, it took less than an hour to fully charge the razor. Now the shaving part. Pressed the ON/OFF switch and rather unremarkably, it turned on! It has a distinctly different sound in operation to my old 8894. This series 3000 model is my 3rd Philips electric shaver, indeed I still have my first model somewhere in the house. I hadn't shaved for a couple of days, so a good bit of stubble to get to grips with. I used my usual technique and absolutely no surprises, the razor did exactly as I was both hoping and expecting, it gave me a shave as close and as good as my old 8894 model. Over approximately 3 minutes, I didn't suffer any nicks or cuts or any discomfort outside of my usual shaving experience. It just did the job, so I definitely cannot complain.I personally wouldn't ever use this razor wet or with foam, that for me kind of defeats the object of quick shaving. To complement my purchase, I bought a hard shell case for it for just under a tenner, again from Amazon. Fits perfectly inside and now stands less of a chance of being damaged in transit when I fly abroad.I really do hope that this new 3000 Philips electric razor lasts as long as my previous two Philips razors. And again, a fantastic price from Amazon compared to other retailers, well packaged and in my case, next day delivery.

Smooth feel - Close shaving - Light weight - Quiet operation - Fast Charging
This product leaves me hard pushed to find anything to criticize it for. It's all good news. I unpacked it and immediately noticed the charger has a two pin plug so that means it can be charged up in the bathroom on the shaver socket.Second bonus was that the charge takes just 1 hour. The flashing light alternates green and amber during charging and flashes just green when nearly charged and finally steady green light when fully charged. Good logic there then.Run time is quoted as 50 minutes which considering this shaver shaves quickly should mean at least 10 days use before needing another 1 hour charge. That's a good advance even on shavers sold 4 years ago. Some other models in the range take 8 hours but this 3000 series takes an hour. The heads and cutters need careful cleaning if dismantling the blades from the rotary foils - but another bonus comes in the way it can be cleaned just by running the opened head under the tap. I would dry it out before re using so it can go on a shelf above a radiator for that.Having experienced a cheaper copy of this Philishave that was truly awful this really did tell me how you get what you pay for and to stick to the known well reviewed products - they are long term cheaper and more reliable.I can think of two things that could be improved - a user leaflet that isn't all diagram cartoon based! It says nothing about the amber and green lights on the shaver when charging. Second thing was it seemed surprising the box didn't contain a cleaning brush - but I have about five of those over the last 40 years that still work well. So there's my report - a superb shaver closer shaving than a foil type and hopefully will be long lived. I also liked the trimmer facility as a pop up on the back of the shaver. It's all good news. I had thought that Phillips made these in the far east but on the razor it clearly states embossed on the back, "Made in Netherlands" They've been making razors there for over 60 years. Need I say more?
