LOOK & FEELI've been using the 1byone Digital Smart Bathroom Scales for the last few days and I really like the simple sleek design, the large easy to read display read out (see image 5), the low profile of the scales (see image 6) along with the simplicity of set up and use.The Scales have a transparent tempered glass surface which covers the body of the scales, with four metal measuring sensors mounted close to the corners (see images 3 to 6). The underside of the scales has four feet (see images 7 and 8) which are covered with matching white textured rubber discs to prevent slippage when stepping on and off the scales.The auto off scales take 4 x AAA batteries to operate (see image 7) and once installed, the scales are activated once a foot is placed on the scales. A really nice feature is that the weight will continued to be displayed on the scales for a short time after the user has stepped off (see image 5).In the box (see image 3)* 1byone Digital Smart Bathroom Scales* Comprehensive multi language user manual* 4 x AAA BatteriesTHE APPYou 1Byone App (Android or Apple versions) can be download either by manually searching for the app on your devices app store or via the QR code on the box the scale came in (see image 2). Once installed you can use the 1Byone Wellness App (see image 9) to create a profile (Name, Gender, Unit of measure (Killograms, Stones and Ounces, Pounds), date of birthday, height, activity level and target weight). The fact that you can store up to 10 different profiles is really handy if you have a number of different people in your household.PERFORMANCE AS SCALESIn terms of their primary purpose, the weight function on the 1byone Digital Smart Bathroom Scales is pretty accurate, especially when compared with my existing Salter scales, but like other scales I've owned there is quite a lot of discrepancy between professional gym quality body fat measurers, however this is hardly surprising given the different measuring techniques employed and the quality of the sensors. In order to achieve measurements for the analyser (), see image 10.Aside from your weight the 1byone Digital Smart Bathroom Scales can also measure the following- Body Water %- Body Fat %- Bone weight- BMI- Visceral Fat- BMR- Muscle MassIn order to get a readings for the Body Fat, Bone, Visceral Fat, BMR and Muscle Mass it's important to ensure that your feet of damp before stepping on to the scales. I do this by checking my weight immediately after exiting the shower or bathing in the morning. Similarly, for the best results my advice would be to take your weight at the same time of day as this will give you the most consistent results.BLUETOOTH CONNECTIVITYConnecting to your phone to the scales is really easy and once you open the app you will be prompted to turn on your Bluetooth if not already activated (see image 11) after you use the scales the data will be transmitted to the scales and a prompt screen will ask if you want to accept the data (see image 12).CRITIQUEIn my opinion the one thing that lets these scales down is the accompanying app which is really basic and has limited functionality (see image 10). Indeed the lack of additional features and integration with other apps like google fit quite frankly almost defeats the purpose of having the bluetooth capabilities. Whilst it is easy share individual weight measurements manually to a range of social media and external storage (i.e. Facebook, Skype, Messenger, WhatApp, Twitter, Vibe, Google+, One Drive, OneNote, Google Drive, Keep, Email) having downloaded the app and read all the comments about data lost on the app following a recent upgrade I'd personally like it to be easier automatic backup or integration of the data collected on the app with other external devices.VERDITI'm really happy with the performance of scales and believe they are fit for purpose, that said I would have preferred more features and functionalities from the application. Indeed the ability to connect to there application would in my opinion provide greater add value from the bluetooth connectivity and for that reason I'm deducting a star for user experience rather than performance.Nevertheless if you're just looking for a reasonably priced set of scales which can take a number of weight related measurements and then beam that information to an app and all for a fraction of the price of Withings Bluetooth scales then these are the scales for you.NOTES* I use an android device and the image 9 - 12 are screenshots with the Android version of the 1Byone Wellness app* Please remember the only way to get accurate Body Fat measurements is from professional gym quality measuring equipment and regardless of the claims you just aren't going to get this from any domestic bathroom scales.* Best results are achieved with damp feet and weights recorded at the same time of day gives the most accurate measure of weigh changeIf you have any questions about these 1byone Digital Smart Bathroom Scales please don't hesitate to ask. There are so many digital smart scales on the market at the moment that it is hard to choose one which is accurate, economical and has good support. I settled on purchasing the 1byone Digital Smart Wireless Scale mainly because of it’s price (£28.99 at the time of purchasing) and because I already own another health product made by 1byone which is accurate and easy to use.The scale is pleasing on the eyes and looks perfectly at home in a modern bathroom. It feels sturdy and well built, which is good considering that over the course of the next few years everyone within our household will be standing on it each day.I’m going to list the pro’s and con’s of the scale to hopefully help you decide on if this is the scale for you.Pro’s:Accurate: As with any health product that you buy, the main thing that needs to be on point is it’s accuracy in its measurements. I’ve compared its measurements against that of the Withings Body Cardio Scale (Weight, Body Fat, Bone Mass, Water and Muscle Mass) and the readings were almost spot on (the 1byone read my Body Water 0.3% higher and Fat 0.4% lower than the Withings scale).Measurements: It’s good to have a scale that measures so many health aspects. This allows you to accurately know how well you are progressing (or how much harder you need to push). This is especially good since muscle weighs more than fat, so if you’ve added weight or haven’t lost weight it could be because you’ve added muscle mass, and this makes it easier to track.Price: I know that many people don’t seem to think of this being a pro, but considering that this cost almost 80% less than some of the more expensive scales puts this as a big pro for me.Little Pros: This section will only list the small pro’s. Such as the product included batteries… now to me this is a pro as the last 1byone product i purchased didn’t include the batteries and used AAA batteries which meant i needed to make a run to the shop prior to getting to test out the product. Being able to export data from the 1byone App is a bonus as I can e-mail myself the measurements.Con’s:There is only one real negative about this product, and it isn’t really a fault of the product since it is the 1byone Wellness App. Compared to the Withings App, the 1byone Wellness App is lacking in maturity. It doesn’t feel as well polished and the UI makes it extremely hard to properly track your progress. Sadly this lets the product down as the only way to get the additional measurements (such as Body Fat, Water, etc…) is by having a bluetooth enabled mobile while using the scale. It’s only saving grace is that on the Iphone you’re able to import the information into the Health App. The app is the only reason why I haven't given the product a full 5 star rating.I’m happy with my purchase, especially the savings which I’ve made compared to purchasing a more expensive scale. That being said, I believe that in a year or two, if the app isn’t updated enough to my satisfaction, that I would end up purchasing a Withings scale so that I can utilize it’s app.
