Casio 2018 PRW3100Y-1B Watch PRO TREK MB-6 TRIPLE SENSOR VER. CasioWith the launch of its first watch in November 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field confident that it could develop timepieces that would lead the market.Today, Casio is focusing its efforts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches: the built-in solar battery eliminates the nuisance of replacing batteries, atomic timekeeping means the users never have to reset the time. Recently, Casio launched a series of Bluetooth watches that sync to the users cell phone to automatically update the time. Casio is always moving time forward. P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); Here are some new color variations for the PRO TREK-3100 Series of Triple Sensor models that pick up information about the ever changing environment around you. The cases and faces of these models are basic black or khaki, for designs that are easy to coordinate with a wide variety of outdoor fashions. The digital displays of the PRW-3100Y use STN liquid crystals for the best in readability. These new models add a variety of new design enhancements, without sacrificing any PO TREK Function. Great Negative Display !!
First let me start the review by saying. I'm a big Gshocks and Protrek Collector. I have been wearing gshocks for 34 years and Protrek watches for 12 years.l m not a big fan of Negative Display. I have 6 watches that have Negative Display . I have 12 Protrek watches. Protrek watches are great durable watches for Athletes and Military personal . This watch has a great Negative Display that you can see .The watch is very comfortable on my 7 inch wrist. This has the best Display I have ever seen on a Negative Display watch. I have the Casio Prw 3000 and this is much better. The color of the numbers are green , means you can see it much easier than any other Negative Display watch. The compass is very accurate. The Altimeter and Barometer work well to . This watch is good for work or play. You can wear it formal occasion to. Casio got it perfect with this watch. This is a perfect watch for anyone. Take it from a person who has been wearing Casio watches for 34 years. Good luck on any watch you buy . UPDATE March 10th 2018. I just bought another Protrek from Amazon. The Prw3510y- 8 . Also the same Display but bigger watch. This is my favorite midsize Protrek watch. I have a picture of both watches. I really love both of these watches. The best Negative Display watch guaranteed.

I've been owning thiswatch for about 2
I've been owning this watch for about 2.5 months now. It works great. The battery charges well, it receives the time update signal every day without any issues. The barometer seems to work well and does show pretty accurately the changes in weather conditions. Really good product. My only disappointment (and that's why I gave it 4 stars) is with the screen's back light. I was hoping that only the digits light up, however it has a lateral bluish light that lights from the left to the right so one side of the screen is brighter than the other side. This feature akes the watch look similar to the much cheaper Casio watches one could buy for less than $20.Overall the watch is really good, although the price should probably be much lower than what I originally paid for it given that not all of its functions are of the highest quality as one would expect from a $200+ watch.

Nice watch, but backlight goes out every time you push a button so operating watch at night is difficult and on this negative display version, the light is weak on the right side of display.

Maybe Casio will make up for this?
Love the watch however the bezel scratched way to easy. And when it scratches you can see it plain as day. There is no hiding it.

... rather large on my wrist but it is a perfect fit. Its not bulky at all
I expected this watch to be rather large on my wrist but it is a perfect fit. Its not bulky at all. Very functional and clean looking. The illumination is perfect for a negative display. So far the only weakness is the back light. You can see it uses one side to illuminate the face and bleeds a little.Buttons work well and they are easy to push and not easily accidentally pushed.

Better alternative than Suunto
I use to have a Suunto Core, but unfortunately the buttons stopped working. I opted for this watch because it has the same functionality and seemed to be more durable. I was not disappointed! Very rugged, not bulky, and the solar power is a plus. My only downside is that it does have a learning curve.

My favorite ProTrek.
I own a bunch of watches and despite my short time with this watch, it has taken over the day-to-day wear position in my collection. For context, I own older ProTrek watches, smart watches, automatic/mechanical watches, and other digital. My wife would tell you have I have a problem. The reasons I love this watch:1. Subtle enough for most office wear (not dressy but doesn't scream outdoors from across the room either)2. Screen is VERY easy to read compared to prior black background LCD watches I've owned/used3. Smaller than my older ProTrek watches.4. Functionality is easy enough to learn that if you have used a prior ProTrek or spend 15 minutes in the manual, you can pickup the general navigation/settings.If I were to complain about anything, it would be that compared to my last ProTrek, some of the functions are not as easy to access or see. With this said, those functions were more nice than anything (tides, moon phases, etc.), so I'm not reducing the score.

I especially liked the idea of the digital compass
I wanted a classier looking watch to replace my old atomic timekeeping solar powered Casio G-Shock, but still have a lot of features. The newer G-Shock watches seem to be way too big for just casual wear. I wanted a less bulky watch and this model of ProTrek seemed to fit the bill. I especially liked the idea of the digital compass. I definitely wanted an attractive black watch, but want sure about this model since some photos make look dark black I the white numbers, while other photos make it look dark grey. Turns out the watch is black but appears to have different shades of black or grey depending on the lighting. So after a few months of use, here is my take.Pros: very attractive. The compass, barometer, altimeter, atomic timekeeping, solar power, waterproof, light button, features are all working fine.Cons: The dial scratches very easily. I haven't worn the watch in situations or around metal objects where I would expected it to get scratched, but yet it has. Fortunately the scratches are very small and not noticeable unless you look closely. Still, I'm afraid to wear the watch on job sites or even working around the house for fear of scratching it further. I don't know how well it would hold up in the wilderness, which it is what the ProTek watches are designed for.As other reviewers have noted, the temperature function is pretty useless unles you take the watch off.not a big deal to me (after all I can just use my phone to find the current temperature) but kind of defeats the purpose of having that feature on the watch. The band is kind of loose on my wrist. I can't seen to get it to fit snugly without seemly stretching the band to get to the right hole. But this my just be an issue with the size of my wrist.

I have a small wrist so the band is too tight or too lose but is comfortable. Little hard to see hours sometimes but you get use. The compass, altimeter, barometer and thermometer work perfect. The watch look like a smart watch and is very light.

Nice watch - an upgrade over older PRW-3000 watches
Purchased this watch after picking up ( and returning ) a PRW-3000 with similar features. This watch has a newer display type ( STN LCD ) that makes a difference in low light readability when you compare it to the PRW-3000. The reverse LCD is "okay" at low light situations and very good under normal light. Haven't tried it outdoors yet, but it should be very good. This watch is supposed to be 3 mm thinner than the PRW-3000 but I couldn't notice the difference. No issues with R/C time setting here in W. Quebec. Watch came at M-edium charge, a few days on a window sill and it's at H-igh.Features are as described, but the Altimeter is perhaps of limited use since it apparently uses changes in barometric pressure to gauge changes in altitude ( this is the same for all Casio ABC watches ). Sunrise/sunset notifications seem to be about a minute off what the Weather Channel says - not sure why, even after I set the exact longitude and latitude in the watch. Not a big deal, just a curiosity. All ABC and temperature can be calibrated if you have an accurate source to refer to.Some notes on how it looks - as with most Casios the bezel markings are not as clear as in the Amazon picture seems to show. Also, I have no idea how the watch display would show the segments ( shown at 0 - 250 degress ) around the face as in the picture. They all do light up if the watch senses a great drop in atm pressure ( impending storm alert ). Watch strap is replaceable with standard bands, but there is a small notch that will not be filled in unless you buy the exact Casio band.Edit: The segments around the outer face will illuminate in sequence in Trek Mode to indicate the duration of a long hike and saved altimeter readings. They do not fully illuminate in any other mode. The segments do illuminate in compass mode ( to show the major NESW points ) and in barometer mode ( to show delta from last reading ).
