Vast improvement over original design
I was having issues with tuning stability. I already replaced the nut with a GraphTech but it was still not staying in tune reliably, especially if using the whammy. I replaced the original trem with this one and it seems much better. Not only that, but the action of the whammy is much smoother, and the saddles are more rounded and comfortable. The trem pivots on a smooth rail which is lubricated with a clear grease. Very little friction. A big upgrade.

Love it!
This is my second Rail Tail. I have them installed on my 2 main Strats and they are exactly as advertised! Once you get the intonation set proper, and your strings stretched out, you can dive bomb all day on this! I do recommend swapping out any standard plastic nuts for tusq though, it make the strings bind less.

Best upgrade to your guitar there is!!!
This bridge turned and already good playing guitar into an absolutely ridiculously playing shred machine! It added a depth and resonance that I have never experienced on any other instrument. The tone and sustain are improved ten fold and pinch harmonics can be pulled on any string now. You can feel the vibration going through the guitar! The trem block is rather thick at 40mm, so it was very close to the cavity cover. Make sure your body is thick enough first. Installation was not too difficult, but setting the action and intonation takes patience. My bridge seemed to have been opened and was missing the lube , so I used white lithium grease and it seems fine…I didn’t have the patience to deal with a return. The action is very smooth with 3 springs and I actually set it pretty light even with 10-50 string set. It does take a while to return to pitch even with locking tuners and graphite nut, so make sure you really stretch your strings out after each re string. Overall a very well made and excellent sounding bridge!

Massive improvement over my Mexi strat's stock bridge.
Installation was a breeze just by following the clear easy to follow instructions, and this bridge and trem system has been a massive improvement in tuning stability, comfort, tone, and sustain over the stock bridge/trem in my 2005 mexican strat. The larger brass block provides better tone and resonance, as well as the bridge resting flat against the body allows for better sustain. It's a dive only system, but honestly that's fine by me because I don't much care for floating trems. Great look and aesthetic too.

Robust Piece Of Machinery
The roller concept on this trem looks great on paper but I couldn't seem to get it to be glitch free. Using 3 springs made it way too difficult to operate. Using 2 was easier but it wouldn't operate smoothly. I have a floating Floyd Rose trem on my Washburn and it operates nicely but somehow, this didn't agree well with my Strat copy. I followed the instructions to the letter and this isn't my first rodeo with trems but it looks like I'm going to sell.

Check Dimension First
I had bought one before only to learn that the block was too deep for my guitar's body. Nowhere does Floyd Rose or any of the retailers for this trem give the full measurements of the Rail Tail. Just to let you know: the block is 40mm and Floyd Rose does not make or intend to make any other size blocks for this unit. I don't think another manufacturer's block will work with it either. The only option is to have the block machined down, if you have a slim bodied ax. Other than that, it's a really well designed and built trem.

So much better than the factory Strat bridge
I just got a Fender Player Strat and the first thing I noticed was the saddle screws were scrapping my palm up (I like my action low). I'm not a fan of the strat bridge anyway so instead of trying to modify the factory bridge I looked online for an alternative. I'm was happy to see that Floyd Rose made a narrow bridge for strats. It's so much nicer to play now and it make the guitar look a little more vintage. It you can spare the cash treat yourself to one of these bridges.

My Strat stays in tune!
This was a great upgrade to my Mexican Fender Strat. I mostly do not use a tremolo bar, so I had my stock trem locked down so the guitar would stay in tune better. I found the Rail Tail, and was intrigued! The install was very easy, and this thing works smooth and looks great! It only allows operation in the downward direction, so it always comes back to its stop, returning your guitar to the perfect tune every time. Between this Rail Tail and the Fender locking tuners I installed at the same time, i rarely have to adjust my tuning.

I great upgrade for my American Performer Strat!
Used 3 of 4 included trem tensioning springs, which seems to be the perfect tension for my Strat, using Ernie Ball Super Slinkys (.9 guage). I prefer 9's on my Strat, but usually go with 10's on my other guitars. If you use 10s or more, consider putting 4 tension springs in (4 included).Watched a couple of really helpful videos on YouTube (D. Braun, trying to not be too specific, Canadian guy, really helpful with guitar how-to) on installing this bridge. Compared w the factory bridge/trem, it's of course a HUGE upgrade. It'd better be, this was not cheap & in fact a bit overboard for a mid-range US made Strat. No more losing trem screws & having to unwind the trem when putting it back in the case. It's a slide-in trem & you can adjust the tightness. When playing, there's a lot more trem travel of course, it doesn't fight you if you want to really dive. However, and this is clearly stated on those youtube vids, you will lose any upward trem movement (you can't pull it up, you can only push it down). Obvs if you're looking for more freedom, F.Rose provide lots of other bridges. My Strat stays in tune way better now. I know that can be a combination of several factors, but it's improved drastically. As far as how it changes the tone, I don't know. I only started playing 3yrs ago & I'm awful at it - but, since the bridge is so heavy & well made, according to a few YouTube sources, it provides slightly more sustain, if that matters. Why 4 stars & not 5? That could be my fault, but for now it's F.Rose. When you release the trem after a bend, it makes a clunking sound on the body. A soft, but audible 'thunk'. My guess is that I maybe didn't space the bridge from the body far enough. If that turns out to be my fault, I'll edit this review.I don't have much skill - I can install locking tuners & change strings, and this wasn't hard to follow. Just be sure to use the included lube liberally on the rail before setting & tightening the bridge over the rail. You'll need a phillips screwdriver, everything else is included.

Great Replacement Tremolo for MIM Stratocaster
I’m VERY satisfied with this upgrade. If you have a made in Mexico Stratocaster that plays well and that you like but are not pleased with the tremolo, this is a great alternative. It is a direct replacement for MIM Stratocaster.I like the feel of the trem arm (absolutely no « wiggle ») and it stays in tune really well. This is not a floating tremolo, it is a dive only tremolo. If you need/want a floating tremolo, this is not the tremolo for you. However, it has some benefits:1. There is a noticeable increase in sustain compared with the original floating trem.2. You can play double stops and bend a string with the other staying in tune. The installation was very easy. There is a good and detailed installation video on Floyd Rose website. Once it is installed, you need to be familiar with basic guitar setup for setting up the saddles height to match your neck radius and intonate the guitar correctly. If you are not familiar with basic guitar setup, simply install the tremolo and bring it to your favourite tech.I purchased this tremolo based on the long-term review from Darrell Braun. For more information, simply search for « RAIL TAIL Long-Term Update » in YouTube.I hope this helps.

The Best!
Best upgrade for a Strat style trem by far! Big increase in tone, sustain and tuning not to mention the dive range. Not the cheapest tremolo out there but the quality is top notch. Easy to install, no mods needed. Drop D and half step tuning is a breeze. Nothing to adjust because it behaves like a hard tail. Highly recommend if you want the best of both worlds!
