A Very Complete Electrical Three-Pack
This set includes three useful devices, a multimeter, a non-contact voltage detector, and a receptacle tester. The receptacle tester is useful for finding non-grounded outlets which are all too common. Those are the ones where someone has replaced an existing two prong non-grounded outlet with one that looks grounded (having three prongs available). But, unknown to a subsequent user, only has the powered ones actually wired. Without the third ground prong wired, there is little or no protection when a power surge occurs. This can bring a premature end to an electronic device being powered at the outlet. We lost a PVR to this hidden problem a couple of years ago. This tester can alert you to such bad wiring and help you to avoid loses likes ours. The non-contact voltage detector makes detection of AC voltage simple using LEDs for indicators. At the press of a switch, it will add sound indication too. Checking AC voltage is always a little precarious when a direct connection is necessary. While care is always needed where AC power is present, a non-contact device makes it easier to do and more foolproof. My experience with the mulit-meter has shown it as accurate and easy to use. Since the meter is manual-ranging, the approximate voltage must be dialed in before it will return results. But, having a battery positions for both 1-1/2 and 9 volt batteries gives it some unique settings even most auto-ranging meters lack.I am impressed with the many features this three-set packs for such a reasonable price. I am very happy with this purchase and believe others will be too.

A Very Good Value Offering
I certainly did not need another VOM Digital Multimeter, or Tattle Tale indicator, or Circuit tester - I already have analog, and digital units, from days of old to new types. But like so many others, I simply could not pass up a great deal that provided all this equipment for such a low cost. After all I could use another Tattler for the tool kit (right)? Point herein, this is a descent Multimeter (not junk), the Tattler works every time, and the Circuit Tester is something every contractor or household tool box should have at least 1 or 2 of (right, help me out here)? So grab this value packaged deal, you wont be disappointed, and the quality is surprising good.

Just received and unboxed
This is larger than my trusty (and discontinued!) Meterman. Overall construction seems nice. Fairly heavy gauge leads. Nice little "kickstand" on the case to allow the meter to be angled for easy reading. The uninsulated tips of the probes will not contact most US parallel blade outlets for reading 110-120 VAC line voltage. I immediately trimmed the excess insulation off a bit with a sharp razor blade. I don't know why they are delivered this way. Potential liability or litigation? I don't know? Will we reach a point where manufacturers will no longer sell tools due to potential liability? IDKThe Extech is distributed by FLIR who seems to making a large effort at industrial sales of all types of meters and inspection tools. I hope this would bode well for support if needed. I don't understand the bargain pricing of $6.30 for this meter but I'm glad I jumped on it. Maybe it's being phased out? I see a MN35 model for sale for <$30 on other websites. The Meterman has gone to my dedicated RV tool bag and the Extech is on the workbench.

Went Bonkers!
This meter was supposed to be my trusted one after being disappointed with the accuracy of HF ones. After owning it for a little over a year with very light use, I chased a battery voltage issue around until I finally decided the meter was nuts. It was registering a little over 19 volts on a 12 volt battery. Now it starts out around 14 volts and keeps going up the longer I hold on the test leads. Useless!

for $20 I thought it a good deal to get the package and I am very ...
I have a lot of wiring to do so I wanted an outlet tester. Then this package deal came up and I figured I can't have too many multi-meters, especially since I seem to have a propensity to blowing them up by not paying attention to what setting I'm using. The hot wire pen was a bonus to me. So anyway, for $20 I thought it a good deal to get the package and I am very pleased with the product. Now all I have to do is remember to set the selector back to voltage after checking some current so I don't blow this one up.

Great economical electrical test kit.
Got this kit at a great price. So far, everything works just like it should. I cannot complain at all.My daughter was having a problem with her dryer, and I was not available to trouble shoot it for her. But she borrowed the electrical pen voltage tester and followed my directions and was able to troubleshoot her dryer (faulty fuse) and repair it on her own. So already this set has paid for itself. It would have easily cost her $50 to take the dryer to a repair center. I paid just under $20 on Amazon for the whole kit and the fuse was just a couple of dollars.Note to users: The electrical pen testers are GREAT for quick troubleshooting. However, they can goof up once in a while (not referring strictly to this brand, but all brands in general) so if you're going to be working on a potentially LIVE electrical circuit, use a meter to verify whether or not there is voltage present. I've owned several different brands of these and once in a while they WILL give a false no-electricity present reading. But for fast diagnosis of whether there is electricity present, they are pretty reliable and can save you tons of time. But when you've narrowed a problem down to a point with one, and if you cannot unplug or otherwise kill the circuit, double check your findings with the meter!!The electrical pen testers are a MUST-HAVE in my toolbox. Apparently, they are a MUST-HAVE in everyone else' too because they keep stealing mine!!! lol.

OJO MATERIALES PELIGROSOs
