SMALLRIG Director Monitor Cage Accessory Kit for Blackmagic Design Video Assist 5 inches Monitor with HDMI Clamp, Sunhood, Ballhead and Cold Shoe Adapter - 1981

Luckily, I have both the Blackmagic Video Assist 3G and 6G. I did not realize there was a difference until I bought this cage package. But the difference is significant when it comes to which one this cage was made for. The issue is on the new version (6G) the placement/location of the SDI and HDMI ports are different - further recessed from the front of the Video Assist screen. With this cage on the 6G model, you cannot connect the MINI SDI cables because there is not enough room. You can see the issue in the photos. The gold SDI ports are the 3G and the silver are the 6G. So just make sure which one you have. But for the right model of Video Assist this is a very nice package - great quality and really is a good buy with the other attachments included - especially the sunscreen which I also needed.

I love the products and have many cages and accessories which have always functioned perfectly.In this case the cage to monitor screw holes were offset by the radius of the screws (about 1/8 inch) front to back.Seems that the monitor wouldn't nest into the cage because the cage was about 1/8 inch thin and/or not milled deep enough.

Perfect as a product...Here's something to fix for the next version... The screws are not the same length (really unnoticeable tiny difference), so make sure you don't use the main set to attache the sun hood, it will go straight into your monitor's (beautiful) aluminum body :(since all the screws look exactly the same, the easy fix could have been putting all of them at the same length (the shorter ones).

I’d give 5 stars, but crazy expensive for a hood. Also, more difficult to eject SD card from monitor with hood installed.
