Use caution before purchasing an NHL Shop gift card! The NHL Shop website has been unusable and live customer service inaccessible for over a month (since early Sep 2024) for both myself and my stepdad. As a result, neither of us could redeem the NHL Shop gift card I’d purchased for a Birthday present for him a month ago, after repeated attempts to do so. Details are below in case anyone else encounters the same.At times orders would not submit at all. Sometimes (when trying to place an order without the gift card) they would submit for processing but then immediately be cancelled by the NHL Shop with no explanation (for in-stock items). This happened numerous times. Potentially related: I experienced the same issue with the Fanatics direct website as well.I tried to call the NHL Shop customer service line (to place the order over the phone) but could not reach a customer service agent. When trying to reach an agent, I encountered AI prompts that eventually ended the call regardless of my responses. The last time I tried to call the customer service line I finally reached a recorded message stating that the line wasn’t being serviced and to use the chat instead. Currently the NHL Shop site does not appear to list a customer service number anymore, where that information would be is now just a banner stating they are experiencing a high call volume and to use the chat instead.I tried the chat as well. When using the chat, I requested to be connected with a live agent. The wait time was significantly longer than stated and once an agent joined, there was some sort of technical issue preventing communication. I messaged multiple times but saw no response from the agent, but upon downloading the chat transcript, I could only see messages from the agent - which I couldn’t view in the chat itself - and none of my messages appeared.I finally had to reach out or Amazon to request a refund because there was no way to actually redeem the gift card (after repeated attempts for over a month). Amazon Customer Service was incredibly helpful and I want to underscore that the issues I encountered was due to the online NHL Shop, not Amazon.
