Sony ICF-C1/BC3 B01NCLPLS4 ICFC-1 Alarm Clock Radio LED Black

I have had this for the past 4 years now. Its built well, the yellow display is great at night. You can adjust the brightness. I haven't used the radio or alarm since I don't need them. Sony is brand you can trust, this will last a long time!!!!!

The clock radio, as designed, is just fine. But it was advertised and sold as being black, and the one that was shipped was white, just as it said on the outside of the packaging from Sony. White is okay, and too much trouble to ship it back for an exchange. Also, the back-up battery as installed is dead. I think the seller and/or Amazon should provide me with a new battery replacement as that is part of the cost of the clock radio.

Changes the time on its own. Cheap crappy product.

I l-o-v-e this little puppies; especially at the price at which I got them (< $9 each). They give great sound and they are in almost every room of my home and workshop so I get the same station wherever I am. The only problem is that I can't set them up on timers to come on every day at preset times. That's a small price to pay for what I otherwise get from them.

I originally bought this for my 97-year-old mother-in-law to replace a favorite Sony clock radio that she had had for 30 years and loved until it stopped working. The buttons was too confusing for her to use, especially with her low vision, so I took it to replace another Sony clock radio that I had been using for 15 years that had recently died.The FM reception on this radio is horrible. Every other FM radio in the house gets our local public radio station quite well (the transmitting antenna is only about 10 miles from my house and visible from the street), but this one cannot be tuned to the station well enough to use it. I basically only use it now as a time display in the night, as it's otherwise not usable.

I bought and returned a lot of clocks because the clock sits on my nightstand only inches from my face and the display was so bright it kept me up. This clock's dimmest setting is still bright but with eyes closed the orange numbers don't bother me at all. I have 2 issues though: One is that though it comes with a battery, the battery was dead. (I returned the first clock but then when the same thing happened on the second one I decided to just go and buy a pack of lithium batteries which are really cheap). The second issue is that since the clock has a battery backup I expected it to still work during power failures. It does not. What it does though is that when power comes back on, it automatically resets to the correct time so you don't have to reset it manually.

This alarm clock is one of the rare ones that has a yellow display. Blue and white lighting may effect our ability to sleep well, and I find the color red stimulating (red light is just a taste thing, blue light is a physiological). The clock works well enough and is attractive enough. Although, here are few things I would like improved.1) I wish the reset button beeped when pressed, this helps prevent pressing button in sleep without even knowing it.2) While this clock is good for circadian sleep health, it would be amazing if the lights changed to white during the day to help wake us up. I know there are other implementations of this idea out in the marketplace, but they are too complicated and ugly. I would be satisfied with simple white letters during the day.3) The fit and finish of the buttons seems cheap -- but the basic design is so elegant, that's forgivable.

Happy with this Sony clock. Looks nice fitting the modern look. Wish I had purchased the white ones. Found it keep time a bit fast, have to adjust time back a few minutes every few months. But it's a good buy. Enjoys it.
