LaCie Rugged 4TB USB-C and USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive + 1mo Adobe CC All Apps (STFR4000400)

Failed after less than a year with no drops. It happens. Wouldn't be the biggest deal if LaCie support wasn't awful.The data rescue it says is included is not free. And you have to pay more money to ship them the defective drive you bought. And their support takes days to respond. Their website does not work properly (I've tried multiple browsers and still can't get it to work) and now after more than a week of back and forth with slow email responses, I have to call into their support in order to pay them to replace the defective hard drive they sold me

Fast, super durable, and works very well with my new 15" 2016 MacBook Pro that only has USB-C connections. It writes and uploads quickly and is powered only with the USB-C cord, so it is ultra portable! Didn't know that Lacie is now owned by Seagate, a company I usually buy from, so makes the purchase even better. I've already filled 2 TB, and in a few months will order another when the other 2 TB's are gone. Very impressed with this drive!

The hard drive may be fine, but I had problems with the set up assistant, and when I called the customer support phone number provided, there was literally no response when I called multiple times on multiple weekdays. It rings for a while, and then a person or machine hangs up without comment. No recording indicating that I had reached LaCie and that they're experiencing longer than normal call volume. Nothing. This may be due to the pandemic, but it's not clear why a technology company can't manage to at least leave a recording.

Do not waste your money on this company as their Customer service is awful. The orange usb-c cable that came with this drive had a loose tip that got stuck in my new MacBookPro the first time I connected it. After several attempts to contact Lacie's customer service for a working cable I got no response. This was the second USB-C cable that failed on a Lacie drive in the last 6 months. Neither one was replaced by the company even though the products was under warranty.UPDATE: Amazon Prime stepped up and provided a replacement. Lacie should take a lesson in customer service! Thanks Amazon Prime.

I have an older iMac ( 2013 ). Backing it up is critical because one day it'll byte the dust. The 4GB LaCie seems well "padded" and has lots of space to keep backing up a 1 GB SSD dive. The drive doesn't plug into AC power. It's on the slow side, but that's not an issue for backups.

This drive just sat on my desk as a back up for my Mac time machine back ups, and it just stopped for no reason. There was no reason for it to fail. Clean environment, non smoker, never moved, not a trash storage, just for back up. Just in time for warranty to be out. How convenient.

So far I have not had one of these drives crash. Most reliable drives for people working with portable Audio and video.

Everyone should have at least ONE external backup disk. These LaCie drives suit the job, are not too expensive, and will be viewed as well worth the cost when you need to get something from the past or restore a system. The next best thing for the size of storage as compared to SSD's but not nearly as expensive! But do remember that they're drives and ought not be thrown around too much!

Drive is a good size, but even with usb c connectors both ends, the write speed starts great and just drops significantly after sometime. Really disappointed. Esp if you do professional audio and video post work.Update. Had to come back a month after writing the review above and give it one star less. Really Pathetic performance with this drive. What a mistake buying this.UPDATE 2: DRIVE CRASHED AND IS CORRUPT. Do NOT buy this drive if you have important work to be saved.

I have 2 mac book pros - I needed an external HDD that will connect to one over usb-c and other over usb-3. This HDD has both interfaces - this is of great benefit to me. The rate of data transfer is also very good. It was delivered to me the very next day - that is also a big plus.

Not getting connected after using for just 3 months...

This product is very good for backing on a computer, easy to use.

Love how portable it is and how safe it feels in its rubber casing protecting it from small bumps.
