I loved Yellow (not the new episodes) and I like Blue Sheep, Makoto Tateno is a pretty good yaoi author. His latest A Bloody Kiss Tonight was about vampires. There are three vampires, each alone, the oldest Keito is obsessed with a certain man, every 50 years or so this human is reincarnated and Keito finds him, then ultimately ends up being killed because of him, I guess you would call him a slight masochist. This current reincarnation is different though. The second story is about a dhampir and the vampire who can't stop himself from taking the little dhampir. But dhampir blood and fluids is poison to vampires and soon he grows weak. The third isn't really a story but a brief glimpse of what could be a second volume, the third and youngest vampire (who usually goes for women) sees a young boy dying from a lung disease and saves him, it's only a few pages, but is sweet. This yaoi was a little different then what I'm used to with Tateno. Usually he spends all volume building up the relationships, but in this one the humans are sort of thrust in a captive/sub type position and the vampires are a little heartless. Granted they don't have human emotions but still I would have liked to see actual fondness first. I'm also not too sure why they can suck blood and eat roses, but perhaps that's a legend I'm not familiar with. The scenes between the couple are slightly rushed but very nice in true Tateno style. All in all worth the 8.73 Amazon price and I'll be looking for a sequel.

Deliciously pretty stress relief
First of all it was a challenge to get this book. DMP has such low print runs lately that the books sell out and become rarities which Amazon and eBay sellers take full advantage of to jack up the price on the rarest books. This being one of them. I completely missed when it was first printed and since Makoto Tateno is one of my favorite mangaka on to stalk it was. I put this on my Amazon wishlist and waited. And waited. Then waited some more. Then suddenly, there it was for $10 after months of not going under $60. Of course 3 days after I bought it jmanga opened and it had this book. It's still not available to buy, but it's likely just a matter of time. C'est la vie. I'm still pretty happy with my paperback copy. Now on to the actual manga. What can I say. It totally deserves being sold out. Art is gorgeous and the vampires are actually *gasp* mean spirited with no concept of human emotions. I'm actually pretty disappointed there's no more. And there was so little of Natsuhi's story. The whole thing just left me wanting more. There's plenty of non-con in this book and sometimes I just think too much about being politically correct. It's BL, they're evil vampires. Just roll with it, sometimes it's good for the system. Deliciously pretty stress relief. Onto the favorite shelf this goes.

A novel worth reading
I remember first reading it several years ago at Borders long before it went under. I was going to buy it but I didn't have the money then. I cannot wait to get my hands on this copy.

Bittersweet, cute, and slightly eerie.
A very cute but bittersweet story with a slight twist. I didn't care for the other two vampires at all, but the main one had a very cute, almost tragic relationship with the protagonist. It's slightly eerie, mostly with the little magic the vampires do. Quite dark, too. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who likes yaoi and vampires.
