Amazing sound and amazing price!
I have wanted these speakers since 1998, and I finally bought them. With the center, surround and Atmos speakers my DT setup sounds better than any theater I have been to recently. From music to movies these speakers just can’t be best. The bass is so good I don’t know that I even need my subwoofer.I went from Bose cubes to this. I thought my Bose were amazing until I hooked up my DT’s and heard all that I was missing. They look amazing, have an option to take a subwoofer input, but don’t need it. Even the LED “D” can be turned on or off. I just love it.These are ready for the Atmos top speaker. They have the speaker posts on back. To add them you simply lift off the top metal plate on the speakers and drop the Atmos speaker right in.I considered the larger speakers and I am convinced that I got all I needed. The bigger subwoofer might be nice. But I have three between my fronts and center not to mention a stand-alone subwoofer. I just don’t need the bigger front subs. The drivers sound the same as the big ones otherwise. Maybe they take less power? I can’t hear any difference. You won’t regret this purchase, I promise you. These sound better than anything you’ve probably heard.

Amazing Sound Reproduction
I last bought speakers 30 years ago, and bought a fantastic pair of bookshelf speakers (The Spica TC-50s, for those of you who are audiophiles). I was not in the market to update my speakers--because the pair I owned were so amazing--but I happened upon a sale for the Definitive Tech BP9040s. I found out that these speakers were on serious discount because Definitive Tech was about to announce an entirely new line of speakers which are now available for pre-order. I jumped on the 9040s, and they are remarkable speakers. They project a very large sound stage: providing what Definitive Tech characterizes as an "immersive" experience (a consequence of the "bi-pole" design). In listening to these speakers, I hear detail i have never heard before from the music I've listened to over many years. The music reproduction across the spectrum (treble, mid-range, bass) is phenomenal. I would run, not walk, to buy the few speakers that are still available, for what now seems to be an increasing price over what I spent (I'm guessing because there are few of these left to purchase). My only regret is that I didn't happen on this sale sooner so that I might have bought even better performing speakers in the 9000 line all already sold out.

Great sound, zero reliability
They sound great BUT amp will have problems in few months, sometimes few weeks. $300 to get replacement amp. And don’t try to fix it

Bad brand. Read any Forums on trying to get an amp repaired and customer service.
I bought 9 Definitive Technology BP8080 speakers. One amp failed and they stoped making replacement parts. Customer service is worthless. I am stuck with 8 Def Tech speakers only one front. Never buy these
