Much better than my saitek x52.
I needed a HOTAS to replace my unreliable saitek x52 which has always been iffy since it came out the box. This feels nice, plenty of button options, easy to calibrate. Stick and throttle feel a little plasticy however their base units are solid and don't move. Saitek felt cheap too yet gets great reviews. This is better. Happy to be simming again these days.

It's okay
Everything you need is there, it just isn't made particularly well.- The throttle has a good resistance on the dial, but lacks programmable buttons- The stick feels good in the hand but squeaks relentlessly at the outer edges of it's movement range. It does the job, and it does the job well - but it does leave you wishing that you just paid an extra £30 and went for the Saitek/Logitech X52.The biggest issue that I've encountered with the stick is in DCS where my button mappings drop because the button labels change from 'Button 2' to 'Button 17' without rhyme or reason.

Would be great if made from better quality materials
The HOTAS set up is ok for the functions but there are some questionable material usage that for me made me return the set.The throttle has a great resistance but the dials and lack of analogue stick really make it unusable in any space sims. The stick has a great section of buttons (note this is right hand orientated) which feel firm and provide a satisfying click. The double trigger was great and was a nice to have on a budget FCS.The biggest issue was the material choices, the main FCS stick is plastic and the actuation elements are also plastic, I had to return mine as on the extremes there was a 'creaking' which worsened and made the controls stick in those areas. Whether this was due to lack of greasing during manufacturing i'm not sure, I did feel that continued usage would eventually damage the internals more permanently, though this is just my own opinion.Overall there is great promise that is just let down by a poor choice of materials.

A copy of a all ready bad design:
On the first day of getting this, I could tell it was bad quality. It is all cheap plastic, the buttons were wobbly and unpleasant to click, the 2 triggers that were there don’t feel very nice and lack a solid click when pressed, there is a nob on the joystick base that does absolutely nothing and it is a complete copy of another joystick called the Defender Cobra M5. Overall I feel like I have been scammed and will definitely be returning this.

Feels cheap.
Was hoping this would fill the intermediate gap in the flight stick market, but unfortunately it just isn’t good enough. Started to squeak almost immediately and felt cheap from the get go. The throttle is massive and unsightly, the base of which is too light so the whole thing moves. The stick is better feeling but overall not good enough to justify at this price point.

Plastic
After the last hundred years you’d think that long term use products would be made with cheap metal and not cheap plastic.Anyway, the product performed well, no issues and extremely responsive.

Poor quality, not suitable for serious flightsim.
Joystick build very frail, I find this not suitable for serious flight simming. Extension USB cable from flight stick to throttle fibre covered, like 1980s design. On the whole a disappointing purchase. FSMS and windows would not recognize the unit. Leaflet with recommended web site turned out to be corrupt and a virus threat.

You are not paying 500+ for a lifelike flight sim HOTAS control set
First a little background. I began playing computer games when there were no gaming controllers. I have used Thrustmaster, Saitek, CH Products, and several brands that are no longer around. I currently use a VKB Gladiator (standard) and the throttle from this set. I bought the Thrustmaster T16000M FCS Hotas previously. The stick was extremely accurate but not enough hats and too many buttons on the base instead of on the stick. I used the throttle from that set with the VKB for a while. I don't like the sliding throttle but the hats and especially the rudder paddle were nice (please start putting rudder paddles back on the throttles!) The T16000M throttle mechanism started wearing out (never was great) so I started looking for a new one. Probably my favorite HOTAS was the Saitek 45. That brings us to this review. The joystick is not good for me because the springs on the stick are way too weak. I never even used the joystick. The springs are that weak. The hats feel good and the ergonomics are nice (I am 6'0" with large palms and short fingers) It does have dual triggers on the index finger. The most interesting aspect of the joystick is the three way switch. I believe it is marked BVR NAV VIS. Each of these settings translates to one of three joystick button presses that is always on depending on the position of the switch. (I confirmed that in the game controller setup in windows.) I wish they had put this on the throttle. In most modern games, this should translate into three different setups for all of your buttons, WOW! For someone who has a very light touch on the joystick or a child, the joystick might be ok, maybe. Big maybe. The throttle is nice. The accuracy and movement of the throttle are GREAT! The buttons and rotaries feel cheap. The rotaries do not function well but they do the job. The button placement for C, D, and E are not good. A and B are ok. Not much adjustment for the throttle friction. Really needs a base like the stick has. If I could put the handle and controls from the T16000 on this rotary throttle, I would be super excited! :)

TOP!
