Not bad for the money
Outside of the clicker not working bc the spring tab is plastic it’s a solid reel that holds up from freezing to 100* weather. For a few more buck, I would have gone for the AG c3

Great reel at a great price.
Really great reel for the price if you are comfortable with baitcasters and want something a little beefier. This reel fits a really nice slot of being slightly heavier than the average bait casting reel, while not being so rediculously huge that you’ll look silly fishing for anything smaller than a marlin. After hours and hours of research, I paired this bad boy with a 2-piece kast king perigee heavy rod, and I would be shocked if you could find a better medium/heavy setup for under $100 (of course I did feel a little silly putting $50 of 30lb braid to put on my $50 reel, but that’s neither here nor there.). I really like the features this reel has like the level wind and clicker, without going too far with things like magnetic drag. If you’re looking for a workhorse that isn’t too fancy and don’t break the bank, I would not hesitate to recommend this. I would say you need to have a decent amount of practice with baitcasters to make this work, as knotting up a huge amount of heavy line is no fun. However once I figured out how to dial in the spool tension I can whip out a 2oz weight as hard as I want. Pro-tip: If I’m really launching it out there I like to tighten the spool so that line doesn’t come out unless I give the rod a slight shake. If you forced me to give some negatives, here is what I would say:-the spool tension knob really requires a good cranking down to get it to the tighter settings. With heavier weights it feel like the final 1/8 white knuckled turn takes it from free spooling to not dropping it all-very particular, but the clicker switch can be a little clumsy to engage as there is no way to tell by touch which way you need to slide it to turn it.Overall I would definitely recommend this reel for someone that has a little experience with baitcasters, is looking for something to pull in a nice sized fish, and doesn’t want to drop $200 on something that they aren’t sure really fits their needs better. I will likely be buying a second one.

great reel
Penn durability and exceptional support. Fun reel to use for red and black drums. Put it on a 9’ spinning rod and it casts perfectly!

Buy It... Love it... Challenge It!!!!
I decided to wait a year for this review after "Countless" Offshore fishing trips to write my review. I've always trust Penn equipment, and in my opinion paired with Ande Fishing Line, unstoppable... I've used spin-cast reels all my life and switched over to Conventional Reels for offshore fishing a few years ago, but gone left handed because that's how I'm "muscle trained" to fight big fish with my right arm and real with my left, I find it always "strange" using right handed conventional reels since I made that transition several years ago, and still have my GT2's in left hand but use them mainly for freshwater fishing because of the low drag fighting power and line capacity.I paired this up with a Penn Mariner II Heavy 6ft Single Peace Rod ($ 40 Bucks) and put it through it's abusive paces, no re-greasing or oiling until last night after a full year, beautiful, I can not praise this reel any higher and I consider it my "gold standard" reel for when I'm Red Snapper Fishing here in Texas and even pulled in large King Fish without too much fuss. I imagine it'll fair well for Tuna fishing as will for vertical jigging, but my boat I go out on is getting repowered in Port Aransas so the Tuna Vote will have to wait till next fall/winter, Tuna are mean fighters! lolBuy It, Right or Left Handed, Just Buy it. Pair it with a Penn Mariner Pole Heavy Single Peace 6ft Rod and you'll not be sorry. Your choice of line and be ready for big smiles and envy with everyone else around you as you fight your fish without looking like your wiping your ass at the same time!

How does one communicate with this seller?
I received this order very quickly and of that i am grateful.I found that the line counter quit after about 50 (yards or feet of that it doesn't say) when I spooled 30# braid on to reel.It looks good, sounds good and winds good. It does not count line.Do I need the counter ? nope.Just wanted to talk to customer service about this.Oh well ... maybe I will go fishing now.

Well worth money
Very fine reel and well worth the money. Casts very well and can send a bait quite a ways out before touching down..have used it for catching big flats and blues and it performs far better than I could have expected.

They cast fine too. No
Some reviews claim this rod is not smooth, it does not cast well, etc, etc... Smooth? I am not a pro angler. I don't fish every day, and I don't have thousands to spend on reels. So I bought a pair of warfare reels to try out. Smooth. To me they feel silky smooth! They work perfectly. They reel well even with BIG weight tugging on them. They cast fine too. No, they don't blow your bait out there two hundred yards, but I can get twenty five to thirty yards from the back of my boat with no issues. IF I had a rod meant for casting I am sure they would cast further, but I have them clamped into stiff ocean rods, so I can't really review how they cast. However, I can review how perfect they are for the situation I ordered them for. River fishing for big cats from the back of my little pontoon. The clicker is loud in the darkness. It breaks the sound of the river burbling with startling clarity in the night, and you KNOW it's ON! The reel comes with a clamp so you can REALLY lock it to your pole. A nice edition in this day and age of PLASTIC reel clamps. I like the power handle, and it can be adjusted for even more power if needed by moving it out to the end hole in the handle. I am no pro, but I fish every day that I possibly can, hunting big cats. This reel does everything I need it to do. NOW, we are going to find out how long it will last!KP

not worth the time to look at
New out of the box the reel didn't wind in. Had to play around with it and it finally reeled for retrieve in once. I never left the kitchen table before I put it back into the box and requested a refund. I have had lots of Penn reels salt water fishing on the west coast of BC, this is why I decided on the War20LW plus the reviews. Glad I didn't just bring it along on the fishing trip and try it there, such a disappointment when my wife told me the reel was here and it turned out to be a POS! I DO NOT recommend this fishing reel! Waste of my time waiting for it, should have bought one from china I guess?

Good, but has a serious folt on this particular reel.
I bought this reel in advance of going coastal in our Dutch barge, where I would be enjoying a lot of sea fishing .( The reel performed well until our return. )When I was reeling in after a unsuccessful hour fishing the reel came apart from its bracket, all four rivets holding the reel to the bracket had popped out.On a closer look I could see the rivets hadn't been struck properly as I could push them back in place .Very disappointed, it couldn't even handle reeling in a empty line.
