Sunpak Sc-2800 Solar/USB NiMH 2800 mAh Battery Charger

This is the fourth cheap small solar phone charger I have purchased, and the first one of the bunch to actually charge the battery in the sun. So I won't say it doesn't work as advertised. But I'm still disappointed. Why only 3 stars? 3 Reasons: 1. The battery capacity is small - not enough to charge my smart phone completely after 2 full days in the sun. 2. There is no battery state of charge indicator, such as many other units have, so I have no idea how good a charge it got in the sun, and how much I can expect it to charge my phone battery. 3. After a couple of months of use the rubberized surface has become sticky, tacky. Yuck. My advice: Spend more money on a better unit. (Thankfully I only spent 6 bucks on it last November - now the price is $50! Yikes. Don't buy!)

I purchased this product for a specific reason. I live where the power goes out often during hurricane season.I live out in the country where it's always the last place for power to be restored. I use e-cigarettes and needed a charger for my batteries. This product does recharge my batteries great in the same length of time as a regular power source ! I have used it several times. The only thing I've come to see is that the LED lights on this are not reliable. They never show when the unit is fully charged even when using the usb plug in to electricity. When out in the sun trying to charge it, you can't tell when it's fully charged either. It will nicely recharge several of my batteries before going dead itself. I get about 12 hours worth of charging batteries out of it before it goes dead on average. If the LED lights would work properly it would be much better.It only shows red no matter how long you charge it sun or by usb power. It's small size & light weight makes it good for easy take-a-long for camping or storage in ones glove box in the car.

This product works absolutely fantastic. However, do not ever put it on the dashboard of your car as the heat will melt the plastic.

I just returned from 4 weeks in the Land of the Midnite Sun aka Alaska. During that time, I kept my Cell Phone and Kindle charged using the Sunpak. Even on cloudy days, which were plentiful, it kept up the pace. I would, and do, recommend this product with NO reservations.

By far the worst solar powered charger I have ever owned. Sorry, but if you are looking for anything useful, save your coin because this is not it. I expected much better quality for the price.
